I've read alot about this stuff and don't seem to find any posts from 2k2 + guys on it.

Does it work on a VQ35 engine? If so, where is that hose that you need to connect it to? Any writeups for 2k2?

Good question..... I'm curious too. I'm looking to use it too based upon feedback. What I don't want to do is to ruin my 02 sensors by running that stuff through the intake system.

 

Works fine. Type of engine doesn't really matter... Any hose that is going into the intake manifold will work. Most people use the brake booster vacuum hose, I prefer a smaller hose that goes into the intake manifold on the passenger side.

 

I used it at 33,000 miles. Through the brake booster hose. I think my system was pretty clean because I only had one small puff of white smoke. Seemed to idle a bit smoother afterward. Got the SES light blinking while I was running it after sucking the stuff in. That stopped, but I got a steady SES light a couple times after that. (random misfire code) Light went off by itself. No problems since.

 

I ran the stuff about a month ago for shoots and giggles. No problems or codes.

 

I ran it too. Through the brake booster line. After I started the car was all rough and wanted to die. Kept on the gas around 3k RPM. Check engine came on, even started blinking. Smoke down the street.

Did it again this spring and same results. Both times just reset the ECU and no issues afterwards. Both times I get a CEL within a week for high amp bank 1 or something like that. Clear the code and it stays gone. I think it has to do with a piece of gunk getting stuck in there or something. Dunno, doesn't come back so don't care.

 

i did it on mine at 20k, no smoke came out, i guess my engine was clean,

no noticable gains or losses

 

I did mine at around 28K and a lot of smoke came out...I added 1/3 to the gas, and 2/3s to the vacuum line. Scared the **** out of me when I tured off the car and I was still sputtering. That's only because the Seafoam was still in the intake. It cleaned it like crazy...car sounded better also.

When putting it in the Vacuum line, use the brake booster. Hold it with your finger when you hear the car dieing, and add more seafoam.

 

I thought we were only supposed to put 1/3 can in the vacuum line. Maybe that's why you had more smoke?

That's the one Igor...Use more in the vacuum lines...It will smoke alot for a few minutes, and the car will sound better (idle)

so the engine is suppose to be running while you pour it down the hose a little at a time?
Then after pouring, turn off car, wait 30 min and rev/smoke it right?
Will the car stall while ur pouring? If so, do I just leave it and keep pouring?

with the car on.. you pull the hose from the brake booster and introsuce it in the Seafoam 1/3 in a cup or you can do more "I know I did". Anyway... once the liquid is gone...turn off the car...wait 5 minutes...connect the line and rev the car to 3K rpms and do intervals up to 5k if you want...don't go driving just let the smoke to clear...... When the smoke is gone... take it for a spin and let me know how it feels....

 

So some1 can use a bottle of seafoam 3 times since you dont use the whole thing each time, right?

 

and which end of the brake cable do u need.

As shown in the pic above, do i disconnect the end closest to the vin plate or the end closest to driver door?

 

closest to the door...and you can add the rest to the gas tank...good stuff

 

I just recently turned 45k, do you guys think I should look into using Seafoam? So the brake booster line and gas tank are the ways to go?...what about through the throttle body?...I know the MAF sensor is touchy, thats why Im asking.

 

Take that side off, when you hear the car stalling put your thumb over the hole and when idle goes normal, add more fluid. Turn the car off when your done. Then wait (whatever it says on the bottle, forgot what) and turn on the car. You'll see lots of smoke and you rev it 'til it clears up.

Where do y'all buy this Seafoam stuff?

 

Autozone... and Advance Auto parts. I went to Pepboys inmy area and they didn't carry it.. but that was a long time ago.

 

Autozone was the cheapest 4.99 a can.

 

Don't pour it into the hose. dip the hose into the cup and it will suck it up. Let it suck a small amount at a tine or the engine will stall. It comes with detailed instructions.

 

Does the engine need to be hot prior to application?

 

It say warm on the can i did it after i went to autozone to get the seafoam, i put like 3/4 of a glass of it in, which was a little over 1/3 of the can. I have 62k on my 2001 and not that smoke came out, engine seems to run smoother less hesitation, idles a little better, i might do this again but this time more of it in there.

 

So let me get this straight you are running it throught the break line? thats is connected to the master cylinder?

Just did the seafoam treatment on my 2k2....half thru the brake booster and half into the gas tank.....all I have to say is, I put on a BIG smoke show after I turned my car on....it looked sweet seeing all that gunk fly out of my exhaust....I can't really notice any HP gains but the engine does feel silky smooth....almost feels like a brand new engine

btw the treatment was done at 40k

 

Maybe I should get on the wagon and try this.

 

for you peoples info.. there is no reason to run seafoam on a new engine.. meaning less than 75k...
i see people who do it on engines with 20-30k.. its pointless
our engines are clean..

I ran Seafoam through my brake booster line and didn't see a lot of smoke. At the time I had about 47k on my car. I did however feel a smoother idle.

 

mine usually puts out a lot of smoke when i do it, and i do it about every 10k miles. but that's just me

 

its minimal at best......seafoam is not that effective
