Bad sound coming from clutch
Bad sound coming from clutch
Ok after having the stainless steel clutch line with mt90 manual oil for 8000 miles
now when i depress my clutch petal, it makes a sweaky noise. I had my brother depress and release the clutch as i listened under the hood. i realized its coming from the place where the acutator that moves the clutch line , if that is what it is. I know its not directly from the clutch pedal as others were describing, its not a clicking noise but a sweaky noise directly under the hood near the stainless steel clutch line.
i think it has to do with this part or something, as if manual oil is not lubricating properly. do you think i should remove it and put back the oem line. any help would be great
sorry this is a 2002 nissan maxima se. 6speed

I have the same noise...Again. The first time, about 2 yrs ago, i took it in to the dealer and they replaced the clutch assembly. It fixed it for a while, but then came back. I took it in again, and all they did was grease something up. I could barely hear it, but it was still there. Now, it's just as bad as it was the first time. I have no idea what it is. It's definitely coming from the same area yours is. The area where the "acctuator" goes in by the front/side of the tranny?
I only hear it when taking off from a stop because you have to let the clutch out slower compared to when i'm shifting. I am no longer under my dealer warranty and now have extended coverage through Warranty Direct, but it doesn't cover clutch issues. What to do?
After searching, it seems that some people said that it was the clutch bearing in the tranny? Some people got in there and lubed it up. I have some white lithium grease that I may try. If it's a defective bearing then it should be covered under the powertrain warranty, which is 5yr/60k miles.

I had less than 10,000 miles. Nissan was getting a lot of these problems with the clutch so, they didn't even question it. I told them there was a squeeky noise and they said, "yeah, ok". There is a tsb for this..
