a shiny present waiting for me today....

...when i got home from out of town at 11pm

a few pics before it goes on the car.....since once it's on, nobody will actually SEE it, and it's so damn pretty....like a work of art

in case you can't tell, it's a Frankencar resonated b-pipe....i didn't get the rear section/muffler at this time because it's heavier than the stock one and I'd like to keep weight down during auto-x season. Will be getting the rear section/muffler in the fall, I expect....

OH.....I might add that I shot emails back and forth with Steve at Frankencar with some questions about this and other things, and every email was returned within about 12 hours.....also, I paid via paypal on late Wednesday night, and the good showed up on saturday....2 business day turnaround is pretty damn good. Just pointing those points out since so many people b1tch about Frankencar for one reason or another - frankly I have (on 3 occasions) have been extremely happy with their very professional service - best service of any company I've dealt with (along with Cattman and Dave B, of course)....just wanted to note that...DON'T want to get into a discussion of Frankencar service, etc etc please!

Looks great! I'll probably be gettin the B-pipe this summer so I can finish my exhaust set up (Cattman Y, Frankencar B pipe, Cattman rear). The price on the B pipe is great (cheaper than Cattmans), not to mention its awesome looks.

The rear section/muffler is the heavy part. The 2 b-pipe pieces combined weigh 20 lbs, just a couple lbs more than stock....

I bought it from....Frankencar
It was a little over $200, which is less than normal, but I have ordered stuff from them before and was polite to steve (not *****y like many people who call) and he gave me the GD price, even though the GD was over several weeks ago.

I chose Frankencar because:
- I know for a fact that their b-pipe is a perfect fit for our OEM muffler/rear section (don't think Cattman b-pipe is, though I might be wrong)
- SS construction, built well, nice design.
- I've always been happy with my intake and FC quality
- About $50 cheaper than Cattman

call it "brand" loyalty - I've always liked FC, their service, their fast shipping, and the quality of their stuff....

Same here. I have been happy with FC and after going through 3 different exhaust setups, I can say that FC is the best one I bought. I hate, HATE, HATE! a droaning exhaust. No matter what you call it, if you hear your exhaust while on the highway, that is droan, and just plain crappy sounding to me.

I will always recommend FC to people.

PS - I still think you should have gotten the B-Pipe w/o resonator.

i haven't seen a cattman b pipe in person but i would say it is virtually impossible to offer a better product than the FC. and it's cheaper......how can you go wrong?? i love the FC badge on the resonator, so classy

I matched the Frankencar B with my stillen rear section last year. The FC B is definitely of awesome quality. I had to use hose clamps around my exhaust hangers because the muffler was banging under the car but not a big deal at all. Steve is an awesome guy, I met up with him one night to pickup my pipe in person at the warehouse.

Yeah it should work with any factory replacement rear section. The only thing is that it might change the angle of the rear section causing the banging like in my case where the pipe from the muffler that goes over the axle was hitting and the muffler tip angle changed slightly. Thats where you might need to use the hose clamps around the hangers to adjust it appropriately.

How much extra noise will this produce? I'm looking to upgrade from the front to the back but don't want to wake the neighbors when I'm warming up the car in the mornings.

believe me they won't hear it unless youre revving your engine in the driveway or something. and even then they'll only hear it if they're outside too.

None... its pretty well resonated... with the stock muffler, it should make no difference whatsoever....

I'm still debating whether to do this or not considering I have headers, and on a sidenote, FC has also been great to me with all my purchases, jsut thought I'd point that out.

I like the fact taht you can bolt it straight up to the original rear section.

Can't wait for a possible write-up and pics .. it's so purdy ..

there really is nothing special about the install....goes straight on, just remember to use the stock gasket for the rear section.

also, there IS a LITTLE bit of added noise but honestly, only your good guy friends and yourself can tell...parents, girlfriends/wives, etc etc will have no clue unless you floor it....and even then they might be totally unaware. everyone i knew noticed though when i got on it, intakes do make it louder though

I dunno, never weighed mine.

Its probably heavier because it seems sturdier in construction and is made of stainless steel. Why don't ya ask Frankencar this question? I'm sure they'd be more than happy to provide ya with the info.

Aftermarket isn't always "lighter". That's an over-generalization. For example, aren't most aftermarket rims heavier than stock rims anyways? I know the benefits of weight reduction for our cars, but sometimes, that's not everything, esp when its several pounds difference.
