oh it stays in 5th fine...just when you go to downshift from 5th to 4th (on a 5spd) the little lockout that prevents u from accidently shifting into reverse is now not there...so i can easily accidently shift into reverse from 5th.

you have two options..make sure you don't put it in reverse or take it to a mech to test it and see how much to repair something that you wont need if you are careful... my .02

well its kinda hard....when u have to think fast and shift im so used to just putting it into 4th not having to worry about it....its hard to distinguish between 4th and rev...until u grind it.

oh, i didn't know this..every time i drive my friends 5-speed i'm always i'm afraid i'm gonna accidentally put it into reverse, since i'm used to putting it into 6th all the time....how exactly did you get past the lockout in the first place?

to me, that doesn't seem like that big of a problem...just be mindful that you dont go into reverse...if your shifter is like mine, it will center itself, then just push it straight down into 4th....

it centers itself like u said....it just takes more time b4 it was like just push it down now push it down...center it..and go down again im just happier when it works like its supposed to.

dam, how the hell did u overwrite the lockout?! I'm glad u didnt let go of the clutch. People are scared sh*tless of going 5th to second....imagine going 5th to reverse....i would imagine the car would probably flip over if u were going fast enough lol
