Thanks to Jim (Bugbite77) for his time and effort on the install, he is very knowledgeable and good with tools after everything was done it took about 4 hours with a break for lunch but I'll let the pics speak for themselves.....

yeah, that's what most people do, but since i don't have the money, and probably never will, i'll just assume i'm not gonna get the DDEs...too bad for me i guess

to the original poster, what is the circle cut out of the orange lens for?

Nice job 2K3MAX. I agree, the cleared look is much better than stock.

If you cut the clear piece the right size it will snap into the housing. No glue required.

Also, if you heat up the housing just before you put it back together, it softens the OEM sealant so you don't have to add any more. Use a chanel lock pliers to snap the lens back into the housing.

thanks for the props todd, install went smooth and easy though it did take some time (4hours to just do clears, took me about 5-6 hours to do my clears and DDE's wireing and all). i got the clear lenses at home depot and followed the housecor's instructions even though they dont instruct how to take the daydots out. i sepent about 45 mins on my car to figureing out how to take the lights out with the day dots and after doing it a 2nd time on todds car i know there all the same. it was fun todd, anyone else in the suffolk longisland area that wants help with this let me know and maybe we can work it into my schedual. And todd if you have the picture of my angel eyes and cleared blinkers that you took at my house, could you post them so i can put em on mycardomain site? thanks and happy maxima moding!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALSO WHO EVER IS AFRAID OF THIS MOD, GET OVER IT, AS YOU CAN SEE, THE HEADLIGHT SERVIVES THE OVEN, I DID IT AT 200deg FOR 12 mins TO TAKE IT APART AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!

Definatly didint need to do the sealant but todd and i felt better with an extra layer of protection. also with the clear directional lenses, yes, if there cut to size they just snap right in, and they did, but a lil epoxy helps ease the mind, dont want a lil pot hole wiggling the lense loose and haveing to go pull the thing apart again.

hey bugbite, assuming that it's your car in post #19, i suggest that you get a chormed bulb (either that or do it yourself), because it will really give a nice clear look to it! you can find them on www.autolumination.com for dirt cheap, and they have really good service (good communication and shipping)

I've been on the fence about this mod for well over a year now, and I've recently decided to not do it. Reason being, I don't plan on changing out the amber turn signal lense in the tails, and I think it "matches" really well. I will say that I really like the look of the cleared out HID's especially with the DDE's. Very cool and nice details pics. Nice job

Todd and I discussed putting in the frosted lens they offer at tap plastics, I have them and we put them in but we had to cut the tabs out to make them fit, I was iffy about cutting the tabs because I only like mods that I could turn back to stock if necessary just my opinion, I like the clear lenses better.

Looks great! I just did mine this past weekend and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Only difference was that i used snips instead of dremel to cut the plastic.

good job. i chose to go with no lense at all instead of the clear plastic insert, but both methods look good to me. whichever you choose though, imo you should get the chromed amber bulbs for the turn signal in order to keep the 'clear' look. the regular amber shows too much amber for my likes.

doing the dde's at the same time would have been nice. you can always add a switch during the installation to turn them on/off at will. i've gotten nothing but compliments and thumbsup from other drivers. one guy even switched lanes during rush hour to ask more questions.
