Basic brake parts...

I know some members have told me to replace all the "brake hardware" when overhauling the brakes (i.e., new rotors and pads). But what exactly are we talkin about? I understand theyre probably some sort of basic hardware on the calipers, but Im not sure if I need to get them thru Nissan or some place like autozone. Just want to be prepared for when I get everything apart.

thanx

Hardware is the clips that fit in the caliper bracket between the pad and bracket and the rubber bushings on the caliper sliders. I'm not sure if a hardware kit for are cars come with the metal clips and bushings or just the clips. If all the hardware appears to be in good shape (no rust on clips, slider bushings not ripped) then it's not really neccesary. YOu can buy the hardware kit at any auto parts store but if you have the factory hardwar it is usually better quality used than buying an after market kit. The only main purpase of the hardware kit is for noise reduction. All parts are made to keep you're pads from shifting and vibrating. When you're brake pads vibrate that is what causes squeeks. The kit should only cost about $15.00 unless bought by the stealer, then I don't know, but probly more than it's worth.
