Has anybody ever found a GXE manual? Didn't know the manual was available on any trim level other than the SE. The suspension can be easily fixed, and the price is certainly right. However, I assume they are few and far between on the lot, reducing the chance a great deal can be struck versus bargining on an SE.

Well, in Canada, SE from 97 to 2001 has LSD, which makes the SE a diesirable performance car than the GXE.

GXE

...there is no second rate maxima. It is unfortunate that it seems 8-10 years ago when I was shopping 3rd gen Max's, you had to hunt for auto's. Now, you have to hunt for manuals, and most salespeople don't even know a manual is available (duh). The manual is STANDARD on GXE. You should be able to at least have a dealer locate one. good luck.

Will you be adding any options to a GXE? That was my thinking originally, but after the few options, I noticed that the price was very close to a base SE, so I went that route instead. It's hard to find a base SE, but if you don't need the car in a hurry, have a dealer find or order it for you. After getting my SE + just a few options, I know that I would not have been as happy with my Maxima if I had gone with my original GXE + options plan.

If I go the GXE route, it would be stripped. Idea being it would appeal to the thrifty side of me for purchasing, and also allow me to go aftermarket with wheels/suspension/radio with a little less guilt. If I step up to the SE, will be aiming for a couple of big options, basically go all-out to get everything I want.

SE for GXE price.

I initially thought that I would have to purchase a GXE with a few extras in order to get a low price on a 2001 Maxima. All I wanted was a tail and CD player. What I found was that just by wanting these 2 items, I was basically in SE range, so then I told my salesman that I was willing to take a "stripped" SE if I could have it for invoice. SOLD!

My "stripped" SE (if you can call it that) cost me only $22,700 with auto trans, MF, mats, and mudguards, and of course the CD and tail I was gonna add to a GXE. I added an aftermarket factory sunroof ($1100 with wind deflector) and 17in. chrome wheels later and now I'm set.

So before opting for a GXE, see can you get a base model SE for near-GXE pricing.

who's looking for a 5SP GXE?

CUZ YOU JUST FOUND ONE!
hehe..

i would have added some goodies when i bought my car, but when i bought the car, it was either the goodies(such as the power sunroof, bose(or at least a CD player), fog lights, spoiler, and mud guards etc..) but the only way i could have my car was just a 5 speed...heck, but the car still has the ABS, and uh...well...guess that's about it..

don't matter....now i have all the stuff i wanted in a Maxima...well...almost....

Also have 5 spd

Got a 2001 GXE stripped for 18,500. Figured I didn't need factory stuff when I would be replacing it with aftermarket.

Did you guys find the GXE sitting on the dealer lot? Figure a few more months and all Maximas will be very heavily discounted. IF there is a GXE manual on a lot which is rather an oddity for the typical Maxima buyer to begin with, an unbelieveably good deal will probably be able to be struck. Would be neat to get a Maxima for the cost of a Civic, tehe.

Actually there were 3 GXE 5-speeds on the lot...
I'm sure that the only reason this dealership had so many was because this dealership SUCKS and they probably get all the leftovers.

Beware of Rt66 Sansone Nissan in Neptune, NJ...They suck.
