Ok, so some of us might be content with the nasty-azz grey we have in our interiors, but not I. SO, I will be painting all of the OEM Grey interior parts a glossy bone. This will be a perfect match to the Black & Bone color leather interior I will be sporting in a few months.

Just a few teaser pics as things get underway...

Now, let's move on to the door trim. The first primer I used was teh suck, so I had to go back and sand it all off and go at it again. Here, you see it with the adhesive promoter after sanding.

Uhhhhh, I don't know man. That sticks out to much. Maybe a slightly darker color or silver?

It was dark out when I took the pic so it stands out alot. I am going to be doing the lower door panels in the same color, so it'll contrast nicley. I am sick of all these silver/metallic trims. Time to stand out!

 

Whatever floats your boat, or your modding needs in this case. I personally wouldn't do it in my car though.

i think when things start coming together, the interior will look more into place. Have you though of putting body filler anywhere to fill in the texture (like the sunglass holder and lower door halfs)?

 

IHMO I think its RICE. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

 

sun glass holder is really....ummmm.....bad color (good work tho).

As for the door trim, sticks out a lil too much, maybe something darker along with the whole dash board.

 

Are you color blind or am I, I could have sworn the sunglass holder was beige and the panel was like light grey almost silver. Not sure I like it n:

the color is not the best choice and it makes the maxima interior looks cheap but good work.

Have you thought about, or tried, matching the grey pieces to the titanium color in the TE package? I ask because I have a stock grey center vent piece (to go around a Kenwood Nav system), but it clashes a little with the rest of the TE package. I was thinking about trying to match it, but I don't know how hard it would be...but changing all the grey to silver might provide some nice contrast too, especially in a black car...

 

Ugh, yes - and it's incredibly time consuming. I'll get some pics up of another peice I am working on by filling in the texture with a glazing putty. It's INCREDIBLY time consuming and don't recommend it.

And yes, it looks a little out of place, but I am not not even nearly done working on it yet.

I'll try to get a more accurate picture of the color, the pics I took kind of skew the color as it was quite dark & cloudy when I took the final pics.

 

You can do whatever you want, as it's risky to judge n00bs, but with all of the positive innovations you have contributed to this board your derrogatory, sarcastic feedback is welcomed. I mean, the vets here just gave their honest opinion, which we all appreciate, without flaming. Good job, dude.

and why exactly are you doing this? i have seen a 4th generation guy paint his interior with a flat silver which looked pretty cool. never white and sand color..

 

I tried that on my Legend Coupe once, and it was too much for the car. I did my vent trim pieces, and other misc console items. At first I thought it was a good idea since it would match the pearl white of the car. (I painted all of it pearl white with color code to match car) Needless to say, it didn't have that show car appeal pictured in my head and instead, had quite a ricey effect. Reverted back to flat black and it was perfect. After my trial and error I found that it might be a little too loud for a dark interior unless your doing an all dash job. Good luck with it.

 

Just trying something different! I know everyone is kinda skeptical about the idea, but trust me, the paint matches the color coupon for the leather interior I will be purchasing, giving me a bone and black interior.

 

I agree. Maybe it would look better with a darker color, it looks almost white in those pics.

 

Lets all just leave Metal do his work and make judgements on it when it is all done. I made a mistake on judging it before it was done and I feel kind of bad, Metal is one heck of a guy with some great ideas!!!!

 

I think a silver color would look better. GET SOME MORE PICS OF EVERYTHING!

 

These are the only peices I have done right now, but rest assured that each peice will be posted as painted!

 

Plenty of riced out cars have their owners do this. But I don't make your car payments so good luck with the work.

I tried this when I owned an Intrepid, and it turned out horrible.

It is interesting, but the color scheme can't stand out, must be subtle, and must really match the interior.

Otherwise, IMHO I think...

 

Just darken the color a little and you should be fine.
