To play Devil's Advocate.....(no, I'm not flaming, I'm trying to bring up some serious points)

Is there anything that actually CAN be posted anymore? I mean, there are VERY few mods that haven't been done before, and VERY few questions that have not been asked before......

I say instead of banning nice pics of fellow-5th-genners' rides, you ban POLLS. All of them. Are we voting for something here?? "POLL: Which color maxima is better" "POLL: What exhaust should I get" "POLL: What color eyeshadow should my girlfriend wear to Prom?" "POLL: Who here has ever changed their own oil?"

Here's an idea: Get what YOU like, think for yourself. Who cares what the majority opinion is?

While I agree the same people shouldn't be posting pics of the same rides once a week...what's wrong with the occasional batch of pics, provided they are pics of a modded maxima with a nice background or scenery. I agree no more "check out pics of my STOCK maxima in my driveway," but let's not go overboard here.

I guess I'll have to think of some lame mod that has never been done before, if I ever want to post a pic of my car again....

hmm: Check it out, I mounted a trash can on the passenger side floor (for pics of inside)
check it out, I mounted an LCD screen under the hood (for pics of engine bay)
check it out, I mounted a cupholder in my trunk (for pics of the trunk)
check it out, I added...well, you get the picture.

Now everyone just has to be more creative posting pics to show your small mods off

By the way, E55, since you left this thread open for comment (not locked) I assume you're not going to ban me for bringing up the other side of the argument...

at the risk of being banned, i think this is ridiculous. i've seen so many locked threads for no apparent reason. now we have the new rule about no repeat threads or you get a 2-week ban. telling members to go to a special section of google and enter all these specifics in order to find something on the org is not a viable solution. if you want to cut down on repeat threads, allow ALL users to use the search function.

also - no pictures of members rides? what?! are we allowed to have signatures still? this doesn't make any sense! the point of these forums is to provide a community where Nissan enthusiasts can come together to share pictures, ideas, questions, and comments. instead, these rules have made posting on the org a russian roulette game of whether you will be banned or not.

I agree that some posts with several pics or very large pics are unnecessary. They use bandwidth and sometimes promote post-whoring.

But, I find how-to pics helpful even if it is of a common type mod (I would hope those would be allowed) and I don't mind one pic of a members Max, even if it is just to show off a new drop or lights or tint or...

E55- If these types of pics are not allowed, can a member start a thread and post a link to those pics? Is that ok to do?

i have an idea. lets all sell our maxima's. for some, the reason for living

i agree with irish and 03on18s on most points. i think ppl who get the same mods as everyone else has, as long as they are new to them, should be allowed. yes someone who merely washed their car, waxed their car, or polished the wheels should not be allowed to start a new thread showing their clean ride.

i have personally enjoyed pics that fellow orgers have posted. for example the sweet pics taken at night at someones school.

Agreed - if bandwidth is the problem, then perhaps pics should just be limited in size to, say 650pixels wide or whatever. I hate the pics that are so huge they make you have to scroll over, and the guys who post "56K beware" (I have high-speed myself, but it's still annoying)....but......

After people do mods to their car, even if it's a mod that's been done a million times (kit, wing, exhaust, clearing HIDs, whatever), they are proud of it and want to show other people. Isn't that why we're all here? If nobody can post pics of any new mods they put on their car, then we're just going to have 3 billion posts in this section about "which brake pads", "how do I fix my blinker fluid", and "help me locate odd rattling sound".....

Pictures: There is another forum for it, therefore no more pics in the 5th gen forum.

Repeat threads:
There are very few if any unanswered questions about our cars here. All you have to do is do a little digging. There is a FREE google search OR you can donate $20 and get the search feature. Bandwidth costs money, and our owner pays this out of his own pocket. So, if you dont like it...feel free to go somewhere else.
Sorry to be such an as$hole about it, but thats life.

Posting pics of mods previously done: WTF do we need to see the 750000th set of cleared HIDs for? Now, should you come with something original (example PHX Blue, with his valeo projectors) thats totally fine here. We have been recieving complaints that the forum is just the same pictures over and over again and the same questions over and over again. Granted, we are here to help each other answer questions and fix problems, however there is no need to go over the same thing 50000 times. This is why we posted the Member Rides forum. It frees up the 5th gen forum to do its job...solve technical issues.

Sig Pics:
Still allowed, should they be within the pixel limits.

well technically this is what the 5th gen forum is for - Learn more about the 5th Generation Maxima, including the VQ30DE and VQ35DE engines.

says nothing about "solve technical issues"

im pretty sure you are all ready being a "*****" by being the 5th gen **** and making up your own rules that no one agrees with. i have contributed to this forum more then alot of other people so i think i have earned more then some new people.
here is the deal. that is the first thread i have started in months. i have done alot of things to my new car and people have been asking to see them. instead of starting a new thread for each one, i waited till I had everything done and included it in one.
if it makes you feel better to ban a contributing and donating member then you do what you have to do. i'll see everyone in two weeks.

Before E55AMG2 pulls out the ban gun, soonerfan, take it easy and DISCUSS things. Yes, "like it or I'll ban you" is rash, but at least he is getting everyone's opinion on this. Not very "****" like to me.

Besides, we all know that the Big Ten rules (Go Badgers!)

he is getting no ones opinion..he is telling us how it is going to be. i discussed things in my post by explaining my opinion.

Personally, I think that is why there is a "site discussion" forum on the Org. If input truly had been wanted, he could've posted a link in the 5th gen forum to a thread in that forum. Instead, we get the fire and brimstone again.

Now, to add my two cents. I totally agree with limiting certain photo threads to be posted in the forum, (i.e. "My car is clean...photos!" or "Put new tires on...see pics") but to ban all of them is totally ludicrous in my mind. Why would I want to have to go to the Member's Rides section to sort through 10 "Joe Schmo's 4th gen pictures" threads? People who visit the 5th gen forums have a certain inclination to the vehicle and thus love to see what others have done to customize their 2000-2003s.

We come here to discuss and show off our cars to others who are knowledgeable about these specific vehicles and to dump that on the Member's Rides forum would be a complete waste.

Obviously, this is by no means the first time you and I have disagreed E55, but some of your new "laws" are just way too harsh and thus have tended to irritate some of the Org's veteran members. A two week ban is nearly analagous to a personal attack on the Org which is ridiculous. A 5 day ban IMO would be plenty of time to get the point across.

So maybe we should have a "member's rides" subforum under each gen forum?

how many subforums do we really need?
i still dont see the problem with posting pics in here. maybe not "i just washed my car, here are some pics" but if you do some mods, then why not? how often is someone going to do something new? there will be no new threads since they will ALL be "reposts". we will just all keep old repost topics going

I agree with Army. Get rid of the Current Member Rides forum and put a generation specific 'Member Rides" subforum in each of the generation forums.

i totally Agree wiht Sooner fan..If Bandwidth is a problem limit the size of the pictures and of course threads like guys i just washed my car or put on clear coners yes those need to be deleted immediately other then that why is there a problem someone posting a new lip or a new set of wheels on there car! My 2 Cents

hey guys, the Mid-Atlantic forum is pretty slow these days, so you are all invited over there to make smalltalk. I'm sure Redmax won't mind

I'm out of this discussion...said my piece and out.....

I agree....I think that we should ban all the pics that are "I just washed and waxed my car pics" I personally enjoy logging on and seeing pics of peoples cars espically the person who took the pics at OK (I think) they looked so sick....I don't want to have to go to the readers rides and have to search through to see a 5th gen I think it is lame.....
