Wheres the Fuel Filter on a 5th GEN?

A friend of mine has a 5th gen max and when he took it in for tires, the mechanic told him that there was no fuel filter. Is that true? Its either a 2002 or 2003. Any help would be great, thanks peoples :-D

its in the gas tank, and your owners manual says it never needs to be changed, so don't worry about it. I mean,If its in the manual, it must be true .

oh i know. Have you changed yours? (how many miles?)
I just hit 45k and knew the filter should be changed soon. I was looking for info on how to change it when i find out nissan says it doesnt need to be changed??!!! I think imma take it to the dealer and have them change it, because thats too in depth for a newb such as myself. Maybe ill change my mind when i find out how much $$$ they'll take off my hands for doing the job tho.

If you're not mechanically inclined, buy a Haynes manual and get a mechanically-inclined friend to change the fuel filter for you, or take it to a shop, but you certainly don't have to take it to a stealership to get it done at their ridiculous chargeout rates.
