Short Throw Shifter

I have an 02 Max and thinking of getting a short throw shifter. I
wanted to know if the shift rod (the part that is attached to the shift
****) is simply shorter than a stock setup and that is the only
difference?

No, a shorter rod doesn't make it a STS.

No, a STS will shorten the length of your shift throws not the actual length of the shifter stalk. I know someone here with an 02 has actually cut down the shifter stalk but that is the only way to do it. Seems like to much hassle to me. I have the HPA STS and it is awesome. Def the best mod yet for me.

I don't mind the long throw. I'd like to feel the short throw before doing this mod. I also read that it can hurt your synchros but I think that is because people are shifting harder with the shorter throw.

If you dont mind the long throw and are not going to shift hard and fast why do you want the STS?

Why do we do half the mods we do? It just fun to make changes I guess. I also might like it better and am curious.
