3 questions about brakes

1. Replacement of lines. How do you get those fastener clips lose, the ones that hold the brake line to the body at about mid point?
2. Do those clips work with the braided steel covered lines?
3. What purpose do the shields serve (the sheetmetal ones that cover the back of the brake disc) and is it OK to run without them?

Many thanks in advance.

1. Just pull them out... grab them with pliers and pull baby pull.
2.??? I would assume so.
3. I would keep them on. Better safe then sorry.
