Car starts poorly, time for new starter?

When i start the car, it hesitates to start as if the battery was dead or low on power. The car always starts though, but i keep getting this hesitation now and then. Battery was changed about a year ago , so could it be the starter, and how do i make sure it is?

well, as you explain it, it maybe the starter. What you should do, it to replace it anyway. When you take it out, go get it tested at Autozone or PepBoys or whatever. You may want to change this because you don't want to get stuck anywhere.

The battery could still be the culprit or it could also be your alternator not putting enough juice out to charge it appropriately or there could be a electric equipment that may be draining current from your battery while the car is parked. Most battery shops can check for a battery going bad or charging system issues.
What kind of battery you bought?

Corrosion/buildup on battery cables, bad battery, or a bad ground. Remove and clean the battery cable terminals where they attach to the posts, and load-test your battery and charging system (free at autozone.)

I have the same problem. I also hear a whir sometimes after the car starts that stops 2 or 3 seconds later. I know its not my battery since I had it replaced to see if that was it. (5 years old, had to go anyway)

Guess its $260 + labor for me.
