New headers are SAID to give 3.0 up to 25 and 3.5 close up to 30, just to clear that up.

Headers are the only mod I had when I got them (3.5L BTW) and I noitced no noise increase, only very slightly and to the "untunted" ear, i.e. mom, dad, girlfriend etc, wont notice a difference. So, none, very slight/minimal

The headers are LESS restrictive than the y-pipe alone and they also replace the y-pipe as well, so no it wont be louder with headers and be even more quite with only a y-pipe, if that is your only mod as you stated in your first post. So 5th gen as in 3.0?

Actually, I think our 3.0s are a bit more responsive to bolt ons than the 3.5s

It's not a matter of more responsiveness, its a matter of restrictiveness, and the 3.5L are all cali spec, hence more restrictive.

So if you're saying he'll get more than 25whp, as per your post, then you're a little off IMO.

Headers are a great addition, my favorite mod so far. My set up is HotShot to a Budget Resonated B-pipe to stock muffler at the moment. Quiet as a mouse, also sapping power, but quiet.

Actually, I was disagreeing with his 3.5 getting 30 comment.

Ok, Ny I was just clarifying, you're correct.

Maxedout03, if headers are your only mod, it wont be loud in the least bit ... you can't even tell.

You have a 3.0? It's possible to install hotshots on there .. but you'll need both headers,

Cattman should have the headers sometime this summer, probably July or august. That's what Brian told me recently, I'm on the list to get a set as soon as they arrive.

Notice I said UP TO, as Brain told me per dyno runs he did. So give the man the call yourself and you can ask him.

That's not how it works. Being on the list doesn't guarantee you headers. It just informs you when they are available.

quiet as a mouse....maybe when you're driving like a grandma. when you merge on freeways and stuff, just like half open throttle, i'll bet you can hear it. ****, the only exhaust mods i have is b pipe

well even my car (which is stock btw) won't be quiet as a mouse with half open throttle (and especially WOT), but i think he may have meant that the difference in sound between a header-equipped max and a stock max is 'quiet as a mouse'

Quiet as a mouse when driving normally. If you are going to drive like a retard, then yes it is loud. When driving normally, you won't attract attention with stock muffler.

roughly how long is the procedure to install headers, I would imagine the engine cradle needs dropped? also what is the *realistic* (i.e. dyno proven) gains, and at what RPM range do they make the most difference?

It took me and 1fstmax 6.5hrs to do the whole install...this is from start to finish meaning jacking up the car to jacking down the car...not bad if u ask me....as I see others doing them in 10hrs+...this is including wiring up the o2 simulators and grinding the front engine mount bolt....oh yeah we also ran into some problems with the bolts that hold the cross member up...they wouldn't go in anymore so we had to find a tap&die set and re thread it...that slowed us down a little....

another thing to note...cattman gave me a 24mm plug for the EGR..which made things world easier..the older versions of the header didn't include this plug so some members just chop it off and weld it shut...which will result in more time consumed

LUcky. i didnt have the 24mm plug. I looked everywhere in louisville and cities like nashville, lexington, and indianapolis. I finally had to cut it off and weld it. Took it to a place here in louisville and they did a great job and did NOT ruin the finish. I was very impressed.

w/ the cattman headers for the 3.0's do you need to do any extreme modification in the engine bay or is it just bolt off/ bolt on?? im thinking of ordering a set but im worried about the install... i doubt i can do the job myself but i was hoping i can pay someone to do the job for me...

Hey I have a question. I have had my headers since last year but every once in while, my SEL light comes on, and it's only after doing a 15min drive on the highway. I went to an import shop that specializes in aftermarket modifications to install my headers and they told me they could not use one of my o2 sensors, so they tucked it away. I never followed up on that, so I let it be. I have the cattman headers version 2 with the bung hole already prefab in the b-pipe (y-pipe i don't know which one). I had No SEL light for about 4 months, but now i get it everytime I go on the highway. I use the ECU reset procedure to turn it off but, i have been doing this alot now since I have been driving alot recently. Any of you have the same problems? I shouldn't have to get the o2 sim mod if there are already bung hole created after the pre cat right?

Sorry, but it won't work with either... the Hotshot and Cattman headers come with a piece that replaces the y-pipe, and that is different from the Cattman y-pipe ya bought separately. You could try a Fed-spec conversion if ya wanna keep the y-pipe. Its basically replacing the front manifold with a Fed-spec manifold with no precat, its cheap and good for a few ponies. Larrio is the one who mentioned it to me and he sent me details, so if you're interested, just send me a PM. Or contact him directly.

Sorry but your wrong, when Brian tell me there is going to be a set for me, I take his word for granted, I've bought many parts from Cattman (Catback, RSB, FSTB, Bushing etc ) everything it happend the way he said before, so his word worth more than your assumption.

Peace.
