how to decrease fuel consumption

This is an interesting article. Basically it says brisk acceleration and rapid movement through the gears, uses less gas than a gentle acceleration

interesting ...
I knew that my driving fast was saving the environment!!!
Great article... here's another idea:
Great article. I'm going to print a copy out and keep it in my glove box so the next time my wife complains about my "snappy accelerations" I'll pull the article out and tell her to enjoy the in-flight reading material.
Here's another idea: Telecommute.

heheh
Yeah, I find that keeping my car in the parking lot, and taking the subway to work everyday decreases my fuel consumption by about 90%. I think I've perfected this technique. Maybe I need to write an article about it as well

Now...I'll just have to figure out how to prevent tires from slipping...then I would be set!

Interesting...I guess it's all in the numbers...if you add up the number of engine cycles, it would make sense to accelerate hard.

Cheers!
Note that the article also says to shift early. The reason this system works is that gas engines have to pump against manifold vacuum and a wider throttle opening reduces pumping loss. Another good (and fun) way to save some fuel is to avoid slowing down as much as possible - then you don't have to speed back up!

I dun see it
everytime I drive fast, the fuel economy sucks...if u think this way....same distance, different speed will give u different time arrived...so u drive faster and u get to the destination faster.....there must be a cost. I say push my max will save a lot of fuel. =)
plus, I have auto...I dunno how to shift at the right time. hehehe
