$3000 to spend; what would you do?

I've got around $3000+ to spend on new mods, what would you get? Parents will NOT permit me to do headers or body kit . What I have in mind is new rims/tires (g-game/nitto 555), illuminas (maybe ksport coilovers), front lower tie bar, cattman y-pipe and cattman catback. I know I won't be able to do all, what would be the priority if it was you?

Currently I have FC intake/apexi filter, greddy evo, fstb, rsb, tein H/ Tokico Blues, Blemco wires, getto rims/yokohama es100. I just ordered 4 brembo blanks and axxis ultimates since my rotors are gone...should have gone w/ BBK but too late.

Any suggestions?

LTB
Cattman or Frankencar catback
cattman y-pipe
ES bushings (all of em)
Illuminas.

That will run you around $1500. Then put the other $1500 into a rainy-day fund for when you see something you REALLY want (either car-related or not).....always nice to have some cash on hand...

I think your current rims look fine....

...though if you're 21, how do your parents have any control over what you get?

Yes, the difference with the LTB is similar to the difference you felt with an RSB in the back....car sits much flatter around turns, steering response is improved. I don't recall how much they are, but I'm sure you know Blehmco's website....

cool, i'll get the LTB. I have the blues right now and it seems to get bouncier over times...hopefully the LTB/illuminas will cure that. thanks

Just get a y-pipe and forget the rest. Keep saving your money so you can get out from under your parents' roof and control before you're 40!

I doubt a y-pipe will make that much of a difference on your 5.5 gen. I would try and sneek in HS Headers.... just a little bit more and alot more power. If your rents wont let you, do what every upstanding son does... lie to em, and tell them you only got a y-pipe. Keep your stock cat, then go for the Cattman cat-back (or mossy or frankencar).

I would also go with the KSports, if you have the money for coilovers, do it, no strut and spring combo will ever come close.

Don't lie to your parents. That's poor advice. They probably bought the car for you and it would be lousy to pay them back like that. I hate liars!! The world is full of them. Headers can be a headache too and it'll be hard to hide that anyway. Do the right thing and respect their wishes. Headers will also make your car louder and are illegal so you could get an idiot who turns you in. A Y-pipe and a cat back will give you nice throttle response. A ECU upgrade is a nice MOD too. I personally think that suspension MODs are a waste since I very rarely drive my car hard around corners. But to each his own. Good luck. If you were really smart you would save your money for a rainy day, open a business or use it for a house someday.

On the 02-03 Max the precats are in the manifolds. It's illegal to remove emission components from your car which must be done to install headers. I belive it's a 10,000 fine. However, if you car is warmed up it'll pass emissions but if they do a visual inspection and you get a guy with a hair up his **** you could get into trouble.

its not a matter of growing up or having *****...its call respecting your parents. I AM paying for my ride but my parents gave me a down payment as my 18th birthday gift. For the rest of you, thanks for the response.

SAVE THE MONEY for a Condo, cars will come and go, and at the end they break... and your money goes down with it. Invest in your future... and not in cars...... I did it when I was your age and now I have a better life with money to spend with no problems. Keep this in mond. Open a bank acct in www.ingdirect.com 3% or www.emigrantdirect.com 3.25%. Look for a condo and put some money into it... you wont regret it. Good luck..... my .02

You know it everyone over 30 saying to save your money and everyone else saying go for that great mod to make your car look cool. I don't think this guy wanted investment advice although I offered it too. What ever you decide enjoy!

$3000. I would suggest taking your girlfriend to the shopping mall. She'll help you blow that 3k easily. Or buy yourself a nice Rolex watch.

Clear your corners, brushed aluminum dash kit, system, and maybe new rims(18s). I would honestly get a maxx tunning from lip and stillen rear vallence. They don't stick out and look stupid like most body kits. They are what I like to think of as classy.

If you're happy w/your exhaust, why get another one, same w/the suspension.

Just get tints, clear corners, Umnitza DDEs and HID fogs. $3k is way too much to blow on car mods at once -- it's kinda a waste of $$ IMO. Invest the rest in a mutual fund. After a year you'll gain an extra $200-300 on the cash.
