Tires
Hi everyone. I was pretty excited in getting new tires for my 2k. I'm not sure if this was mentioned or brought up. But my concern about sizing up the tires for the stock rim from a 225/50/17 to a 235/45/17 or 245/45/17 series tires is that will the bigger tire size hug against the inner fender walls when the car is making a turn? Cuz I went to get some new tires for my brothers 4th Gen Max and his car uses 215/55/16. And there weren't too many selection to choose from. He couldn't size up the tires, because the tire guy took a look at it and said that for the 4th there are no other tires that would fit the vehicle. Any size upping would cause the tire to rub up against the inner fender wall. So my question is would that occur for the 5th gen? I saw that y2kevSe asked a lot of helpful questions. But I'm not sure if this was covered or not. So for those who has 235s or 245s on the stock rims, please give some incite. Thanks.
New Rubber
Nizmomx,
This being the 2nd straight month I've had 235/45/17's
mounted on stock mags, I've seen no adverse conditions with either the car (rubs or interference) or the tires
(abnormal wear).
Visually the 235's have no protruding bulge that would
make you believe they are mounted on a wheel too narrow,
conversely they seem well fitted to the stock mags and would be my choice again at time of replacement.

They work but...
Depending on who you ask, they my say the 235 and 245 are too wide for our 7" wheel width. Some say they have 235 and 245 on theirs and they work great. Some will say they didn't. I am pretty sure they will fit nicely in the wheel well, I would make sure and look at one of your wheels mounted with the new one and make sure the tire doesn't bulge out.

A word of caution. If you're considering purchasing a tire for use on a rim that is not designed to support it, I'd suggest that you contact the MANUFACTURER of the tire and get their blessing before you do so. I would NOT recommend that you substitute the word of a retailer or anyone posting in this forum.

my new tires
well I was fortunate enough to drive through someone's windshield on the interstate in the middle of utah on the way to Las Vegas last week, and it cut up my tires pretty bad and I had to replace them. The only tires they had that fit my car were 245/45-17 Potenza RE730's, so that's what I got. They do bulge out a tiny bit but it's not too bad....I really like the ride and grip on them though....A HUGE difference from the Potenza RE92.
