I am wondering what the advantages are/might be for a buyer who purchases a AE Maxima. Any resale value boost? Is the car more valuable than other Maxima models? Also, when I test drove the AE, it drove much better than the other Maxima models I tested .... the car appears heavier and better insulated (doors shut with resistance) and seats are much softer leather ...Just my imagination???? Thanks

I agree, I owned a 2K SE and traded it for a 2001 SE/AE and it rides more sure footed and quieter. The posi-transaxle is really nice for faster getaways. No regrets, nice car.

Anniversary SE

Most of the extra's that are ala carte in the SE are standard in the AE. Chrome sills and petals along with gear shift are also included. The Majestic Blue Pearl can only be gotten in this model. Resale value is unsure as the 2002 should have the 3.5 versus 3.0 and that may consequently drive down $$$$. The car is worth more to its owner and his/her driving pleasure. It is honestly one of the best values on the road. And the commercials kick *** also!!!!!

Actually, an officer in my national guard unit just bought one, It is beautiful.. THe body kit makes it complete. I am not to crazy about stock rims, even though they are 17inch shiny. BUt it is all about the body kit.

One of the main reasons I bought the AE is because of the limited production run. I'm hoping that there might be a little extra at resale because of this. I was just turning in my Super Black '98 SE off a lease and wasn't sure which way to go until I got to the dealer and saw the black on black AE. I thought it looked pretty sweet and I liked the little extras that set it apart from the SE.

However, when I test drove the '01, I felt a couple of differences from my '98. When I got into my '98, I felt as if I was slipping into a cockpit in that I was sitting lower. Plus the leather was super soft (not worn, just soft). The '01 had me feeling like I was sitting in the cab of a truck in comparison (slight exaggeration for descriptive purposes) and the leather doesn't feel as soft. Maybe with some new springs and leather conditioner, I can address these issues.

Anyway, at the very last minute I changed my mind on the color and went with Icelandic Pearl thinking I'd try something different. Still on the fence if it was the right way to go. There's just something about a black car...

Cheers!

When I bought my 2001 SE, I asked the dealer about those AE's and he told me they are going to get some next week, but i didn't think that they have a lot in difference, only in the looks. I guess i was wrong, 2 weeks after I bought my SE, I saw those AE's outside and i gone crazy telling my self how stupid i was not to wait another week and add like 2-3k and getting me one of those.

I personally don't think there's going to be any big resale boost on this car. I like stealth cars (i.e. cars that don't attract the constabulary's attention) so the boy racer add-ons don't do anything for me.

(Okay, so the keys are cool. And don't forget those floor mats. )

The only reason I got the AE over the SE was the VLSD, a very useful feature for a 22[2,7]hp car.

Never get an apraisal from a dealer, they will ALWAYS be the winner. I would recommend the Blue Book value as a better reference instead and selling it yourself.

AE is unique

everyone that sees my max knows it is something more than the average max; I get compliments constantly. And, I really like it. I had no deliberation in buying the max...as soon as I knew the 20th anniversary edition existed, I knew it was time to buy my new car.

haven't looked back and love having something unique, not seeing myself on every corner. It is an awesome, sporting car that can still haul your family comfortably. How many cars can do that?

Bought 2000 Maxima SE w/ everything. love it, spun it out twice, modded it, spun it out again, modded some more, burnout on juice finally did the tranny in, Nissan Warranty, should've gotten the AE tranny
Now prototyping my company's intake system, and love it even more.
Had Opportunity to drive AE, and was impressed, the looks, the feel, was asked to modify it like my own car. Work was beautiful, and it sold within 24 hours of driving the car back to the showroom floor. Riding on Eibachs, backed up with FSTB and RSB. Performance enhance from K&N drop in, and very custom hand built 2.5" SS B-Pipe. Sporting Panasonic HID System, and Hella Yellow Star H3s.
Car sold for $36,000.
New Owners Response: This is the way a Nissan Maxima Should've came from the Factory....

-Thanks Bill M., Sales Manager for giving me the opportunity. Thank Karl W. for buying the car as soon as he saw it.
Now where's my money ????

A/E - the way to fly

I have had great pleasure in a number of features on the A?E and the simple fact of the appearance of the vehicle! The 'ground effects', in my opinion, finish off the appearance of what looks like a 'not quite done' nose treatment on regular Max's. The interior treatments are also great for aesthetics and catching the attention of others. Adding the Meridian package and Bose just make a great feeling and handling car that much more fun and comfortable! One cannot overstress getting a 5-speed to really enjoy it!!

Funny someone else has mentioned the seats issue...I agree that the regular SE seats are just too hard a leather surface and not supportive compared to the A/E. I think it might have to do with the better circulation of air through the seat cushions and surfaces thanks to the perforated leather.
