bought a hks rear section today

i found a hell of a deal on a hks rear section today on ebay. i picked it up with a custom b-pipe, so a full cat back for $130 shipped. it needs to be buffed out so that it will shine but for that price i couldn't pass it up. here's a pic of the muffler

is this a straight-through design (where you can look into the two exahuse pipes, and see light from the single in pipe), or does it have chambers and baffling?

I currently have the cattman....it sounds sweet as hell with the headers.....but one of these days...I would like to try out the HKS rear section....heard the HKS sounds just like a g35 coupe? can anybody vouch for this?

Install it , test it out, and let us know how it sounds. Perhaps provide a sound clip as well. It looks like it's in great condition. Good buy.

i was worried too that it was a stock muffler. then being a donating member of the .org i did a search and found guys that had the hks on and looked at theirs and this one. the give away was where the pipe goes into the muffler. on the stock on it goes in on the right side and on the hks it goes in the center. then i looked closely at the tips and they were identical. i'm very glad i found that becuase my car sounds like total

No, I think it sounds like the Cattman/Mossy, but a little more subdued... I heard Gooey's before he sold it...

so just a quieter version of the Cattman/Mossy? hmm...doesn't seem worth it then....

there was a sound clip a while back from polo. In the clip, the HKS sounds meaner and deeper than Greddy Evo...I personally ended up with the Evo.

they sound very good, van has one here in OKC. his car is very sweet. sounds like a stock g35 when cruising and sounds very nice when he's at WOT. his is a 3.5 and mine is a 3.0 but i hope they will be close in sound.

so far from my readings....it goes EVO>Cattman>HKS>Frankencar

I know there is another popular muffler out there...PowerTech 1102 1103 or something....I wonder where it stands on that list

i know there is a clip of it in the exhaust clips sticky. Its the pt1011 (3inch tips i think) and the pt 1012 (4inch?). The pt1011 fits prefectly inside the stillen rear valence. A lot of peopel said it was loud and that the it drones at around 2500 to 3000 rpms.

I got mine from Gooey for about $115 shipped. It was just in need of a sand and polish. Gooey is the man for giving me such a deal.

Great pickup Blake -- it's about damn time, I was starting to get worried that you were joining the rice crowd with the way your exhaust sounded the other night.

Hmm, looks just like my stock muffler with Magnaflow tips.

Just do that hanger method that I told you, and the muffler will hang almost flush with the bumper.

Nice find man. I'm sure it'll sound nice. When I was looking for a used HKS, I could never find one.

well i got it on. it's awesome. the b-pipe is all mandrel bends, the muffler needed a little cleaning but looks great now, not as good as vans but i don't have the patience. it sounds very good to me. looks very clean. kind of a pain in the a$$ to install being that i didnt' have a lift and i had to jack the car way up in the air to get the rear section in. but other than that very easy, i was done in hour and half with cutting mine off and putting the new one in.
here are a few clips

you put your oem muffler back on with the headers and b-pipe right? did you ever get a sound clip? im curious as to how much the stock muffler quieted the car down..
