Nissan recommends 32psi for the 2001 SE 17" rims.
I find this causes the car to understeer significantly.

I am thinking of bumping the pressure to 35 up front.

Does anyone have a favorite pressure? And what was the affect of that pressure?

I've seen this posted before. You may wanna use the search. I personally use 35psi... but I'm on the 16s.

I use 35 up front and 33 in the back on my 17's. Works fine for me.

I keep them even at 33 cold (garage temp)... on a hot day (in the sun), i've been up to 38...

The nissan service manager at my dealership claims they fill their customers up to 31... cuz it gives ppl a softer ride.... (apparently, that's what peopel want ... why???)

I suspect optimal pressure depends on your driving conditions... I get on the highway like 3 min after leaving my garage, and it's minimum 75mph almost all the way there.. (on a nice day, the needle doesn't drop below 80).. So since my daily driving habits have the tires operating at higher temps, I believe (in my case), that inflating them to 35psi (for example), would be too much...

However, if I had to drive a lot of in-city before getting on the highway, i'd prolly fill up to 34/35 psi..

--> The more air you have, the stiffer/harsher the ride will feel..

-Tom Z.

PS.. couple of things
-Pressure depends on temperature. (colder = less pressure) (warmer = more pressure)
-Driving increases heat of tires... = more pressure

THEREFORE:
check your pressure often (it will change with the seasons.. you usually have to release air for the summer months, and then fill it up a bit for winter months) And always check your pressure cold (meaning after the car has been sitting for a bit)

-max on the 17's is 44psi.. that is MAX...
-the high pressure spare is supposed to be at like 60-65 psi, i believe

You may find 35 in the front to be harsh. Try 33 front, 28 rear to get rid of some of the understeer feel.

I recently posted on this topic because I had the same problem. The dealer put 26-28psi in originally and because of bad handling I changed it to 36psi all around (Maximum pressure is 44psi). It still rides good believe it or not and the handling is far better.
