anyone with a retrofit?

Looking for pictures of anyone whos done a retrofit. I know most people just upgrade to the 2k2 headlights, but looking for anyone who has retrofitted the older headlights with some projectors.

The whole setup was like 665 completed. 275 for housing, 160 for projectors and 220 for bulbs and ballast

Dr. Roy had pictures on here somewhere where he had done just that to a 2K which is even sweeter. If someone has that thread, post it up here.

gsumax here are some pics of the blacked out RS6's i told youy about. i have to pic up some new housings and swap lenses, the ones on there are old, yellowing and the polycarbonate is dried out leaving lots of very small small cracks and fissures, that can be seen when viewed at the right angle.

they are a bit plain looking but i am digging them for now, very similar to meanbeams retro on a 4th gen.

that looks like exactly what I want to do. I think that painting the housing black looks alot cleaner. Kinda hides from the protrusion of the projector. Now ive gotta start searching for the parts. Dr. Roy, are there any similar projectors to the size of rs6's? I like how the fill the housing.

Most bixenons have big lenses so you have plenty to chose from, the rs6's are made by hella and marginaly better than hella e55/6th gen maxima projectors, both use the same 3" lens, but have different reflector bowls. the valeo bixenon has a 3" lens as well. The bosch e46 bixenon has a slightly smaller lens but it is close to 3".
there are others out there w/ smaller lenses, if you got $300 to drop on projectors go for a set of Tl's, they are awsome - wide and bright beam pattern w/ a sharp cuttof that can be modded to add a ton of color. Basicaly like the TSX's but bixenon.

The tsx projectors I retrofitted into my friends e36 are freaking awesome. The color output UNMODIFIED is very nice and the beam pattern makes my MDX projectors look halogen

btw, Roy those stock lights look freaky! I like them a lot!

yea i had a set of tsx's on my car for the last week and half, I installed them before a long drive to upstate NY along very dark roads, i couldnt believe how much light they put everwhere, the hi beams didnt seem to add any light on the road, only above the cuttoff. with a heavy heart i removed them yesterday and put the rs6's on. the TSX's are now boxed up and tomorrow will be on there way to vegas so xtantmaxima can hold claim to best lights on the ORG.

My mdxs are going to be sold soon, and i have a brand new set of projectors headlights that i will throw on sooner or later when i get everything together. got my hands on some clear lens D2S valeos w/ DOT shields they are color monsters, not as bright as the TSX's though. i am still wating on CCFL tubes for the halo's and i think i may try some Q45 look alikes for the highbeams, and will finish the shrouds off in tinted chrome like the TSX's i did for xtantmaxima.

Hey Dr. Roy, have you ever seen that Japanese site where a guy retrofitted Q45 projectors into his Lexus GS? It was a really interesting and unique mod.

nope cant say that i have, i had a set of q45's but they are simply to big and a involved way to much work to make fit into any headlight housing for our gen maxima. i do like the look though so i ordered up a set of Q45 look alike foglights. I think it will look good but am not sure, waiting to get them in hand and fitted befor i decide if i will use them or not

you dont even know the half of it, those are shots chosen from many that dont show the full extent of the skin cancer my car has. the paint job is less than a year old, when it came from the body shop the paint was so so shiny and smooth it looked like it was still wet, since that day every rock that has come in contact w/ my bumper has taken some paint w/ it.......plan on getting it taken care of soon, and will hand it over to the shop to repaint it when i have a few days i can do w/o my car

Im guessing that you havent seen or driven one of the new 330s. They are really fast and a blast to drive. And if you opt for the HIDs you do get some really sexy lights and angel eyes. I wonder who will be the first to retrofit the new E90 projectors???

I was talkin about the new E90 330, meaning the 2006. I have a 04 330 6spd that I drive all the time, and the 06 330 sedan is so much more fun and handles a ton better.
