Power and Torque Gains from CAI and Y-Pipe/Catback
Was wondering what kind of gains I will see at the flywheel from installing an Injen CAI and Cattman Y-Pipe and Catback.
Also, do you see gains from installing a "high flow cat" or is it just a myth?

Get a y-pipe and call it a day. Cat-backs don't (0-4hp) do much, and the Injen isn't a fovorite around here either. High flow cat = myth.
Flywheel hp = IMO, I like to see the gains at the wheels.
You have a 2003, get headers, a POP style intake and 17* timing advance and you wont regret it. ~ 25whp, which is ~ 30 at the crank.

I spoke to Brian Cattman on this the other day. He mentioned that when you improve the intake, you should also improve the exhust to achive hp gains.
He also went on to state that the high flow cats do not increase hp, however he has found a new high flow cat which actually increases hp and will be available soon!
Yes, I ordered a new y-pipe and dellivery is tomorrow!!

I'll belive it when I see it. I don't see how, even removing it completely shows minimal to no gains.

NmexMAX - thanks for the clarification on his name.
So just get New Piping ?
after the y-pipe install. Should i just go to a muffler place to have the crimp after the resonator -taken out ?? My resonator looks rusty but the Muffler is not as rusty (no holes, 88k)
I dont think i will gut or replace the existing cat unles it looks really bad, when i pull the pipe off ill look into it.

I Dont Know..........
I dont have a dyno to verify. I have a Stillen intake, Cattman Y-Pipe , Cattman catback. But my butt tells me there is a "significant" gain in the high end after installing the catback. It just breathes better. It freely revs to redline after install.

How bout the whole thread on how much HP you get with Headers over just a Y-pipe. One guy posted a dyno showing he gained 30+ WHP when using headers instead of just a Y pipe. Granted most of the gain was above 5k but really thats where our engines need some more kick anyway. I have more than enough torque already to have problems hooking up and I have a stock 2002

That's because he wants to sell you one for $200 or more. If you want to replace the cat, get a test pipe. Sooner1 got his from budget for like $20 and it sounds good. I doubt there's any power gain though.
