Light output is worse than any road going vehicle out there. Take my word on it.

Anyone interested in buy my pair of black ebay projectors? Dr Roy did my retro. It currently has the E46 single projectors in them. The out put of the projectors they come with suck. Let me know if you interested. I will send you pictures of the cutoff and the projectors. Got most of the color out of them.

The HID projector retrofit is one option. OR you could buy the 02/03 headlamps and black them out!

Could you get the ebay projectors and modify for halogen instead of HID?

They come with halogens which suck, Dr. Roy modifies them for HID.

The projectors from Ebay fit small, I think H3 type, halogen bulbs. I don't know anyone who has taken the projectors from ebay and made them anything road worthy other than replacing them with HIDs. For the price of a lot of HID units now I don't know why you'd keep them halogen. IMO, the Ebay projectors are only good for the whole casing, throw the projector piece away.

yea, that can be done, best bet would be H11 MDX or H7 valeo projectors, they are halogen but adapt well to HID (cost around $100). And if you want to upgrade to HID down the road all you would need to do is mod the bulb holders on the projector to accept a D2S bulb.

I have a box filled w/ about 20 or so of the H3 projectors, the only thing i have made out of them was a set of yellow HID fog lights, beam pattern is the same 3 HOT spots you get w/ a regular h3 bulb, only brighter & yellow- but they are only fogs, my headlights provide more than enought light....
the cuttof is nice and has a good intensity @ the kick, actualy the projectro would not be bad if they had only rounded the reflector bowl rather than using one w/ sharp angles that produce the hotspots.

when you guys say awful output, what are you comparing it to. Do they have a better putput than 2001 stock headlights. Compared to HID they suck but they're also 1/4 the price. I for one don't want the HIDs, I live and Jersey and I see missing lights all the time. And if anyone wants to trade I have 01 headlights

out of the box, the projector headlights have awful output,.....awful compared to the stock 00-01 headlights. changing bulbs doesnt help, using a hid kit doesnt help either, the projectors they come w/ are just a chitty desing

I have them and they suck, but they look good . There is just one bright beam and the rest is spattered. Like a mag light if you spread the beam half way out. I will do a HID retro when I get the spare $$. I am getting my house carpeted this week and new tires for my 18" rims so NO More Spending $$ on my Maxima (for a while). I also did a Angele eye projector for my fogs that works better than the headlights stock.

$100 and some stocks might get you a used set of ebay light if you are lucky. Even if you do all the work youself and buy everthing used and get good prices -housings, projectors, bulbs ballasts and a harness is going to run you +/- $600,

I just did a set of E46's where everthing was bought new and it cost the guy about $1K........ Save some cash up if you want to do a full retro, its worth it
