Some 5th gen (and 3rd gen) autocross pics - RESULTS NOW POSTED

...and some other cars that were there too...Just wanted to share with my 5th gen homies sorry for the "multiple post" but hardly anyone goes in the autocross forum, and thought you guys might enjoy some nice pics....

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....39#post4147039

EDIT: JUST GOT THE RESULTS:

if you feel like browsing the competition:
http://members.***.net/capitaldrivin...05results.html

short recap:
Total field: 70 cars (well, about 66 cars, and 70 drivers)
FTD: 44.51
My best time: 49.79, good for 36th Place (dammit, just missed top half).
My indexed time: 49.4, good for 20th Place indexed (kind of like a golf handicap).

Gabe's best time was 52.55, but that includes a 2sec cone penalty...so his best actual time (if you forget the cone was 50.55). Since he hadn't run with CDC before, he had no index.....so his finishing position was around 50th or so (didn't count)....

Hmm....finished 8th indexed in the previous meet, so I'm not particularly pleased with 20th indexed. Oh well....next race is at the same lot, so i'll have car set up more appropriately next time....

CDC has a couple hundred members. Annual dues are $25, and the events cost $20-40 to run, depending on how much they charge for the use of the lot (most events are at high schools or minor league stadiums). You usually get 6 or 7 runs. Most events have about 70 cars. If you're not a member, it's hard to get a spot unless you come as a "guest" of a member, and the events usually cost $15 more than for members....

SCCA autocrosses are usually held at big locations (NFL stadium lots, airports, etc) and have ALOT more cars running (200-300). SCCA membership is more $$ and the events are usually more $$ also....

check out your local SCCA region or www.scca.com under "Solo2" (the official name for autocross)......Alot of local car clubs also have autocrosses (BMW clubs, corvette clubs, etc) and they are often open to non-members with "other" cars...

I've been trying to get Corey (redmax) to host an event in the DC area sponsored by Redlinemax (his company)...no word yet. With all the clubs running in this area, it's hard to find available lots to use!!

Josh, great pics. Looks like it was a pretty fun event. How are those G35 wheels holding up on the courses?

they hold up fine. i got them primarily as winter wheels since they're strong as hell. The downside of course is that they're heavy as hell too.....much too heavy for competitive autocross, but there's NO chance my wife will let me get a THIRD set of rims

I might get a pair of lightweights for the front at least...we'll see....
