If you like handling, stick with the max.

That's a joke. Stock verses stock, any year Cobra will outhandle any year Maxima with no problem. It will also outaccelerate any Maxima easily and be much cheaper (and more successful per dollar) to modify.

Problem is build quality and reliability. That is the boat I am in right now with my 99 Mustang GT. Here is a list of problems I've had:

1. Clutch failed due to defective throwout bearing
2. Rear pinion failed due to excessive casting flash inside differential from factory.
3. Recall:defective parking brake assembly.
4. Leaking rear differential (dealership's fault)
5. Detonation at high rpm.
6. Body problems - trunk shock leaking fluid at 10K miles, 1/2 gap in dash panels, hood won't close unless you slam the hell out of it, loose door handle.
7. Heater core noise due to defective valve.
8. Piston slap noise on cold mornings.
9. Rattling seat, dash and rear deck.

And I only have 20K and my car is bone stock! Other 2001 GT owners report some of the same exact problems! So, even though my car is fast, I'm looking at a 2002 Maxima, because it is just not worth the hassle.

As Merch said, the Cobra is much more of a performance car. With 320hp under the hood and rear wheel drive those cars are a blast. I agree with Merchgod in saying Ford build quality sucks and if you want a reliable car get the max. I would say if you are spending 30k get the best of both worlds and buy yourself a low mile Lexus GS400, now that has 300hp,rear wheel drive, and is extremely reliable.

Funny you should mention this because my friend stoped by work yesterday to show me his new cobra.. Its actually his second cobra and 5th mustang he owns. Its a 95 Supercharged cobra and ******* was it fast as hell. Juts puts a huge smile on your face when he floored it. Ya and here is the ****ter... he only paid 4000 bucks for it at an auction... Damnit... Im gonna have him find me one.

A friend of mine bought a Corvette a couple of years back. He loved it, but spent a lot of time debating whether to get it or not. After all, even though the Corvette can arguably be considered an exotic car, it is an American made exotic car. My buddy is well off, but still doesn't want to throw away money on a high performance car that has terrible build quality.

Recently, he had to sell the Corvette. His wedding anniversary came up, so he used that money to get his wife a Jaguar. Now he's back with his old 4Runner. He still speaks very highly of the Corvette, though.

I would buy any Chevy with the LS-1 in it.

I am working on getting a 2001 Camaro SS as we speak!

The C5 (97- )is my dream car and without a doubt the best looking vette ever made. My girlfriend thinks I have an obsession with that car, and I know I do, but I know as the gm commercial goes, "one day we'll be together", hopefully sooner than later. For now, my 2k1 maxima is giving me a great all around car (need the front drive for winter). Keep it real with the vette, but take it from a vette lover, the maxima is no sloucher!

Hey, if anyone knows the name of that oldies song in the gm card commercial pleeaaaaase let me know!!!

p.s.
If anyone wants to talk vettes, drop me an e-mail at jason@jdss.com

Whoops! I meant to say if anybody knows the name and the singer of that oldies song.

Also, does thinking about a car at least 10 times a day qualify as a healthy obsession???
