I know how you feel !
I spent about 30 minutes turning and pulling with no results. I was told by a friend that his 00 civic has clips inside the ****, which required a device resembling a fork to remove the ****. His dealer took care of it free of charge. So, I took my Max to the Nissan dealer and found out they had no such tool. They just called the biggest guy over and 5 minutes later he got it off. Only problem, the factory **** was destroyed. Oh well, its a crappy ball of plastic.

You'll have to cut the OD wires... then it'll slide right off.

Yes, the 5 Speed you need...

a strap wrench or if you don't have one, use a channel lock and put a rag or towel around your ****. You will probably damage the one coming off, but if you have a new one, no big deal. You have to twist it to break a glue seal, then just keep screwin'! The new one I put on was self threading, but I used some epoxy in there just to make sure it wasn't going to get loose at a bad time!

Oh, you can't disconnect the OD wire? That's too bad. I guess you have to splice the new connection? Do most shift kits include the connectors?
