help! metal grinding noise from left front tire area when turning right
i need some advice. i was driving my car today and suddenly when I turned to the right i hear this metalic grinding noise. could this be a sign of bad bearings? i also had some noise when turning which sounded like a whoop whoop previously which the dealer said it was noisy tires which is BS. please help. My car is currently at the dealer and will be checked tomorrow morning. I need an idea on what it could be so that I do not get screwed by the dealer. I also have the security plus extended warranty with a 0 deductible. thanks

could be cv axle, maybe a torn boot and water/dirt got into the grease and caused a premature failure. i had a bad wheel bearing a while back but i had the symptons bad when turning but also in a straight line. it got pretty violent towards the end when nissan replaced it under my powertrain warranty. i have the same warranty as you but i was still under 60k when it happened.

i have the same exact problem. it was small back in january and now is increasingly loud. whats the cv axle? how much would that cost? for part and replacement. I thought there was just a driver side and passenger side axle. And is it safe to drive this way? it wont snap will it? Sorry about all the questions. its just that i havnt gotten a response on this when i posted a thread on this.

I have a similiar sound when I turn to the right and rarely to the left. Its my brake pads because they are so worn. The wear indicator is a b*tch. Was going to bring the car in monday but mechanic was going on vacation for the week. It makes an annoying high pitched sound sometimes when going straight. If I step on the brake pedal while having my other foot on the gas for a second or two, it stops for awhile. Starts again when I turn the wheel.

I was about to say... Have you guys done any brake work recently?
I just changed out my rotors and pads, and get a nice metalic (more like dragging than grinding) sound when I take a hard right turn.
It sounds to me like something dragging against the dust shield. Its been so hot here that I haven't even checked it out yet Im almost certain it's not a bearing or CV joint cuz it started immedately after my brake install I swear I do good work.

ok here is an update. I went to the dealer and the sound was not there anymore. they put my car up and showed me that my inside part of the rotor was slowly starting to rust which they believe was causing the noise. they predict that the dust shield rubbing against the rotors which seems like a posibility. so what i need to do is get a brake job done... i'm about order some brembo blanks and Hawk pads from coximport.com. are there any other cheaper site that sell these??

Well I just pick up my car from service and they said that that's not a wheel bearing. All that noise is caused by breaks. My front brakes are down to 20% and the noise is from indicator that breaks are low and the noise when turning right is due pulsation caused by uneven worn rotor. They said in 2-3 month I should change front brakes.
