anyone know the answer to this question?/....

I want to know if 2002-and up maximas and i35s... if they still use throttle cables or if the trotthle is electronically controlled like the Audi a4's.... I dont like the a4 2001 i have for that reason, it accelerates really slowly casue the computer doesnt allow it to rev up high!..

so im trying to sell the audi 2.8 a4 and get a 2002 and up i30 or maxima...

thanks for the info..

No cables on the 2002+ Maximas. It's all done electronically.

I have an 02 auto, incredibly easy to burn out, even when not trying.

Explain your post in a little more detail? Burn out ... If you mean flooring it and melting your tires, then the 5.5g does it no problem.

There are options for you to "fix" some of the TBW shortcomings. Such as an upgraded TS ECU that adjusts it so that the throttle doesn't close toward the right side of the tachometer.

But even at that, my car doesn't have the TS ECU and still manages to put 225+whp at 6550.

Cars w/o the TS ECU also see low 14's and high 13's all day long, depending on transmission.

My previous car was an A4 but I didn't have that problem...might've been because it was a 5 speed.

FIRST OFF not a NEWBIE, Second of all im not looking to do burn outs, I just want my damn audi to acclerate faster its slow as **** compared to the max 95 i had (was stolen and was turboed!)

The audi is slow casue the computer doesnt alllow it to rev up high...

if it was on a cable i could floor it and it will accelrate fast...

thats why im asking if the new maximas are acclerating fast even with there being no cable and electroncally controlled./!

Maybe you should ask in an Audi forum

Just because the 02+ Maxima is TBW, doen't mean it's set-up like your Audi, and will not be able to "rev up high" Maybe you're hitting the rev limiter, Audi/VW,s have "soft limiters". ...

Accelerating fact? 1/4 mile? There are a handful in the 13's, and one in the 12's, that's fast enough for some people.

No I know that they are not the same.
Im just considering selling the Audi and getting the max but before i did i wanted to do some comparing.

Plus the max comes with 265hp over the A4 190hp.

I need help actually deciding? I dont know if i should sell the A4 and go with max/I35
or stick with it?

Any ideas? Plus maxs are lot more mods for them compared to the A42.8

I know the forums of audiworld and audiforums ... Thanks

I'd go with the 3.5L Maxima .... Audi has it's advantages over the Max, but I've never owned an Audi, so my opinion is biased, but I'm not sure if you expected this on this particular forum ...

Have you driven the 5.5th Max yet? Coming from an Audi A4, I can tell you the handling is in another league. The Max ride is very unrefined, especially going over bumps. The Audi was one of the best handling cars I've driven, but it was also the least reliable car I've had. The 2.8 Quattro 5 speed was not that bad in performance actually. Mid range was pretty impressive. I test drove an automatic 2.8 Quattro and it was complete garbage. There was like a 10 second delay in the throttle and the car was programmed very conservatively as far as gear changes. The tiptronic feature didn't help at all either. Test drive the Max, if you don't mind the way it rides, get it. Overall, it's been a great, reliable car with great performance.

Yeah the Audi will ride better, better interior and attention to detail, but Maxima, or nissan parts for that matter are a heck of allot cheaper, and you can actually find someone willing to work on it if you don't do it yourself

Audi DBW is a POS, even on my old 6spd S4 throttle response was crappy. Japanesse have very reliable DBW systems and their response is just as good as normal linkage style throttle bodies. 98-99 2.8L where linkage driven throttle bodies on the A4, in 99.5 they switched over to the DBW system on the 2.8 and 1.8s. Automatic Quattro 1.8T with DBW is a total pig, it has throttle response comparable to a 1980 Mercedes 240D Diesel.

If you're looking for a 2002 or 2003 Maxima or I35, you will find that it is very easy to melt your tires, even in an automatic. The electronically controlled throttle in our cars isn't as retarded as the one you apparently had in your Audi.

I got my Maxima after years of driving a Sentra. Flooring it in the Sentra is almost necessary in normal driving. It took me a while to learn not to floor it in my Maxima, and the lesson was pretty hard on my tires.

Yea, the cars are completely different. My mother had an A4 1.8T that she gave to my sister. The rides of the cars are so different its scarey. You move the wheel the slightest bit in the audi and the car moves a lot. Always hated that, along with the lag of stepping on the gas and the almost refusing of the tranny to change gears. Going up hills in the thing is a friggen nightmare, car stays at like 4k+ rpms the whole time. Don't like how much the car slows down either when you take your foot off he gas. The japanese make cars for what americans usually want, like more for our lifestyle, laid back, luxurious. Not for the "faster" , more "rigid" in a way european lifestyle, its hard to explain. Its like, do you want an uptight car(german) or a laid back car(japanese)?

Honestly, go for a 5.5gen, you will not be disappointed. Best made and a lot better looking than the 6th gens and audis.
