Just purch'd Kumho 235-50-17's on OEM wheels...
I just purch'd Kumho KH11's in size 235-50-17 for my OEM wheels on my 2k2. They feel the wheel-wells real nice, and are TEN TIMES better than hose shatty Blowtenza's (although I did get 50k miles from em')
Road noise is whisper quite, ride is smooth, and traction is incredible!
My one complaint is the look. The tread pattern and sidewall don't look very aggressive or sporty. I'm not use to this. The blowtenza's were even more aggressive looking! I never realized (until now) how important the tread pattern and sidewall look is!
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, considering I got them for about $100.00 each at discount tire.
But next time I get tires, I'm gonna go with a really nice looking tire, even if it does under-perform in overall ratings...

But it's the size that's recommended as safe for that wheels width. ie..235-45 is not recommended. 235-50 is. Has to do with the load rating or something.

You may have better luck though, since yours are a little wider - hope so.
Peace

And to be honest, the tire is slightly taller, so I'll be registering less miles on the odo than I'm actually putting on the car, plus it definately fills the wheel wells a lot better. Immediately noticeable.
It just the look of the actual side wall and tread pattern that is dissapointing...

I had those KH11 in the same size 235-50 17 but I was disapointed with the treadwear. But I will says this. I had less than 2/32 of tread left on them in winter and maded it up an sonw/icy hill. That was a plus. I like the tire and I would buy again.
I am currently running the Kumho ECSTA 711 in 215-50-17 only because I needed tires in an emergency. This is a nice tire too treadwear and handeling is pretty GOOD. The next tire will be in a 235-50 17 if I don't have new wheels before then.
