Finally Got a 5th Gen

Well, my wife and I finally found our new Maxima!

We got a 2003 Sterling Mist SE, automatic, with Titanium, Meridian, Leather, Traction Control, and Sunroof. This car is amazing, we've driven it over 500 miles since we got it yesterday and we are fully in love.

Yeah, I know, but I guess I was in too big a hurry to type it out.

Congrats on the new car... do plan on keeping it stock, or mod it a bit?

500 miles...for most of us that would equate to two tanks

Yeah, it was a lot of gas. Not two tanks, but a lot.

I'm sure the miles will slow way down - we had to drive 150 miles to get it, then made a 150 mile (each way) trip to visit some family (and show off the car). I love the trip computer, and found myself spend lots of time fiddling with it during the weekend.

Right now we're going to get the windows tinted a little and add the sunroof wind deflector. My wife says she doesn't want to do much to it (it is her car).

I would like to get 5th gen taillights and tint them, along with the side marker lights. It already has the "titanium-tint" door sills, and the interior has everything I could want, so that's probably it for the mods. I would like to look into one of the better radar detectors that you can get "built-in" (but I really don't know much about those yet).

We were hoping for dark blue, but now that we've spent some time with this one, we really love it.

I'm hoping to find some pictures of one like it with smoked tails and side marker lights so my wife will see just how nice that would look. (It takes a lot to convince her to mod something these days).

Congrats on your buy. But don't get the wind deflector. I think it looks ugly and it also ruins the paint after time. I had one on my Subaru for about 3 years from the factory, and when I took it off one day, there were outlines on the paint of where it was installed.

Good choice, but if you went 500 miles without filling up your tank then I want to know what kind of gas your using because I can go about 300-310 miles until I need to fill up.
Good luck in convincing your wife to mod the car because that car will look great dropped on some 18" rims.

I'm going to have a link sometime this week to pictures of it.

Well, there are 4 or 5 pictures on the original eBay auction, where I found it:

I really hate that I keep reading how people don't like those tires. I have the receipt in the car where the person I bought it from just put a brand new set on the car within the last 3 weeks. I think that for my wife's sedate and slow daily driving they will be ok for now. The previous owner really liked the tires and said that's why she bought the exact same tires to replace the originals.

They are so new they still have the paint line around the tires! She paid $209 each tire, plus mount and balance charges, very nearly $900 for the set.

Congrads!

Your color sounds similar to mine.

Be sure you tint the sunroof when you tint the windows!!!!!!!!

A tinted sunroof will really cut back on the heat on a sunny day and still work just fine.

thanks

Just to clarify, the craptenza's aren't too bad until they get some wear on them. I'd seriously consider changing them by winter if my wife were driving the car. You don't need to get $1200 Pilot Sports, but you can get a set for 4-500 that'll do the trick.

Congrats on the car! I remember when I first bought mine driving down the highway and pulling up next to an older vette (early 80's vintage) and thinking "ya, I can hang."

Uh huh...come back to us after a few drives in the rain with them.

I paid $450 (installed) for a set of Falken Ziex ZE512s, which are WAY better than the RE92s. (NOTE on my perspective: I bought my 02 Maxima new!!! So I'm talking from e x p e r i e n c e)

Thanks for all the compliments.

If the tires don't feel safe in the rain we'll definitely be swapping them out for something better. I can't wait until this weekend, we should be able to get the windows tinted then.

Great choice of car, mine's paid for and I would NEVER part with it.

Ditch the RE92's before rainy season. I'm on my second set (I know, dumb ... long story, however) and when it rains I can't stand driving with such a light foot so I just park the car and roll in the wife's FX45.
