O2/ Knock sensor problem.. Neeed some help..

Alright, i just got a 01 AE and it was perfectly fine. My brother brought took it the dealership and it was about 1,200 in repair to fix the whole sensor problem about 3 months. Now im driven it and it feels like a slug after about 4 rpm and it dont pull anymore....whats going on !?!?I just moved from philly to orlando so that was about a 18 hrs. drive i dont know if that effected anything. My check light is on so i brought it to autozone and they say its the 02/ knock sensor again... My question is should i buy the parts and get it done or take it back to the dealer and complain to them. I have the reciept but im wondering if the dealership in florida be the same as the one in philly. It might be a minor problem or something . Does anybody else ever had the same problem ?!? plzzzzzz help need some advice

what codes did you get, and the dealer in philly is likely a different dealer, do yull be either taking it back to them or paying again and sending them the bill.

I'm trying to uderstand what your problem is. Did you state that you spent $1200 to fix a sensor problem. What did they fix? My 2000 SE just had a bunch of problems and the SES would come on and kick an O2 code when the problem was really the MAF. I would lose acceleration and power at around 4000 RPM. Kind of like being all in the floor with the pedal but the car acts like you went half throttle?

MAF = Mass Air Flow Sensor ( You'll find a thread or two in this forum dedicated to it). A lot of 5 generation Maxima's have an issue with it. The sensor itself costs < 100 clams, but the whole assemble seems to be a couple hundred more. I have read about dealerships charging upwards of 750.00 for parts and labor, but I think this is a pretty easy do it yourself project.

I am replacing my sensor this weekend, so I will let you know how it goes.

yOoOO the Mass Air Flow Meter (sensor) is connected to your air intake housing where the filter is. It's a cylinder looking thing that is bolted on by four 10mm bolts. I chased this problem for quite a while and I found a thread that someone started with the same problems. I tried to be cheap and clean it and only made it worse. I paid $110 with tax and changed it in 20 min. My car runs better than it has in a long time. Call a Nissan dealed with your vin# and buy the part. You can try Autozone or Napa but I found that they had to order the part and both were much more than the dealer. If your dealer is much more than $100 look farther back in the threads and find one that mentions MAF and find the phone # for Daveb. As I understand it he will sell you a new part at a really low price. Good luck......Chris

hey dude the knock sensor code will not turn the CEL on--we at my dealer dont even worry about the knock sensor--its not gonna affect to much the sensor just detects knock and tells the comp to adjust properly for it ---depending on which o2 sensor code you got there are a couple bulletins on the o2 sensors--one which involves replacing the rear o2 sensors and reprogram. theres also a stupid one that the fix usually doesnt work and we usually end up replacing the ecm---and the ecm is 8 year 80,000 for replace or reprogram. But the problem sounds like a MAF that you got--hope that helps
