addition of headers??????

i currently have a custom y-pipe and catback system.....How much power would i be looking at if i decided to get a custom header setup.....is 15- 20 hp with the addition of the headers reaching for the sky or does that sound right?????any feedback would be greatly appreciated...thanks

here is a thread that discusses this: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=285309
you would gain about 30 whp with intake/headers/y-pipe/b-pipe/cat-back exhaust.
i imagine with your current setup, you would gain additional 15-20whp.

I doubt you'd gain 15-20 whp over the y-pipe set-up with headers... there'll definitely be gains, but not that much since your y-pipe has already eliminated the pre-cats. Check with people like Chris'max and BlackbirdVQ... they're 2 5th Gens I can think of with headers.

That thread is for 5.5 Gens, he's a 5th Gen so its different for him. The 02-03s gain that much with headers over a y-pipe because we barely get anything with a y-pipe.

I think y-pipe is a better for the 01s.
But what if you use FI, would headers add bigger gains?

I was just reading about this and you would gain about 14 hp from the dynos and threads I've read. Not worth it in my book. Also, you would be in federal violations of the emmissions law. I doubt you'll have a problem but you never know.

Someone dynoed a SCed Maxima and it showed almost 40WHP gains due to headers and 2.5" exhaust vs 2.25" exhaust and Ypipe. But I can't seem to find the dyno chart.

Custom headers are not worth the $$$, I doubt your fabricator has the skill and time to properly R&D the design of the header to make power. For 550 bux you can get HS headers for a 01-03 Maxima and you will gain a few ponies over the Ypipe. Its nothing drastic like headers on a 3.5L, but the few HP are there.
