How to adjust e-brake

Hi guys,

First - I *did* do a search and found nothing useful. Second, I went to replace my screeching front pads today (61k miles) only to find that it was the rear that was worn. That's just odd. Anyway....I replaced the rear pads, no sweat, but my e-brake seems looser than before. I've checked the '02 Electronic Service Manual, and it's a bit vague. How do I adjust the e-brake? Is it at the lever in the center console, or must I adjust each rear caliper independently?

Thanks!

Jack

The adjustment is under the center console.

look down from the handle of the ebrake, you don't have to take off the center console...just look down into the ebrake "boot" at the front end and you'll see a little bolt. turn it one way or the other.....

you need a deep reach socket to get it loose or tightened, 10mm i believe

Thanks!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the quick answers - I can always count on the .ORG and its members!

Here's a related question - how far up (personal preference notwithstanding) should the brake raise before locking 'em in really good?

Thanks,

Jack

I actually think it's in the owner's manual.....mine's out in the car so i'm not checking tonight though.........Mine is adjusted to about 8-10 clicks until it gets hard to pull up.

Thanks. My manual is still packed from my last move (last year).
