I want to get a 2000 GXE - the SE and GLE are out of my price range...the manual trans is a must - but I can't seem to add any packages to the GXE, so if I want a GXE with a manual it looks like i'm stuck with the crumby plastic hub caps! At least ABS and A/C are standard...

Am I missing something? Can I order the factory wheels afterwards seperately, and how much would they cost? I absolutely detest plastic hub caps but its imperative that I drive a manual and I cannot afford the SE.

That's pretty much it. You can add fogs, rims,

spoiler, etc sfter, but you'll end up spending more than an SE. Go in debt, and get the SE AE (Anniv. Edition). You'll be happy for the next 10 yrs. A small price to pay per year.

Just get rims

You can purchase alloys with the base car as a dealer-installed option so that they're rolled into the price. The alloys that come with the GXE C&C package are heavy, not very sporty looking, and even kinda look like hubbies (I should know, we have them on ours). But you'll pay mad $$$ for the Nissan wheels from the dealer, so just consider some aftermarket ones instead. Go to http://www.tirerack.com to see what's available from them and how they look on the car.

Factory wheels

If you didnt get the wheels on the car with a C&C the stock 17'' will cost you about 700$ per wheel plus the cost of a tire.
Trust me go to tire rack or discount tire
you can get good 17'' for about 150$each
and your choice of tires.

here's what i did anyway

i got a gxe base 5 spd & negotiated a good price between the dealers in the area, who all had several on the lot to choose from.

the wheels can be 'sold / traded' to a tire store (i did it through big 'o' tires) for $300+ to go towards new 17" wheels and tires that (in my case) were $1100. so the 2 size wheel upgrade to 17's can be done nicely for $800.

you can probably get a gxe w/ spoiler, fogs, fstb, rsb, rstb, intake, y pipe, 17" wheels, and a nice stereo for the same price as an SE (w/17")

Priceing

How much are you looking at paying for the GXE 5speed. I paid $22500 for my base SE 5speed. It had a sticker higher than that granted. The only option I got were the floor mats. The Stock 16" Rims look nice but I am going to replace them with 17"'s of another make.
Now I am starting my Mods but it would seem at a stiker of 24k$ to 25k$ a base SE 5speed is a worthwhile debt.

We paid more form my Mothers GXE with C&C package than we did for my SE,

Got a good deal on my GXE.

After totalling my 99 SE limited, I was looking through the papers and saw a GXE for $19,000. Went to the dealer and it was sold. So I dealed and got another GXE, except this one had a wing, for the same price. Imagine what you can do with the money you save from not buying a SE.
