What to buy

02 Maxima 6sp vs 02 Altima 5sp

I am looking to buy one of these cars. I need to know a few things.

Which car handles better?

Which car has more room?

Is the altima really faster?

What average mpg?

Thanks

the interior room seems about the same, my brother and i went to test drive one to see if he wanted to buy it. though i must say that the interior is sparse/cheap looking. straight lines, flat panels, looks to ugly on the inside for me.

I believ MPG is the same on both. Altima is few tenth of second faster (at least base on C&D and couple of other magazines). I love interior of Maxima. I hope this helps. By the don't forget the 6spd.

When buying my car, I had to decide between the 2 as well... the Maxima is so much more refined in terms of interior and performance... if you think the shifting is long with our 6 speeds, that 5 speed is even worse... I'd get an Altima if its an 04-05 or whenever it is they started to get better, but I didn't like the 02.

Oh yeah, if ya wanted answers to your questions...

In my unedumacated opinion (but I did test drive both back in 2002, with no dealer in the car ):

1. Maxima handled better
2. Maxima has more room
3. The Altima felt faster, but I don't know for sure. Its the same engine, and I'd think its a slightly lighter car?
4. No comment, because I don't wanna start another mileage thread.

Thanks for the help. One more question. Does the Maxima or Altima have the same type of mods. For example headers..?
