Are they one unhappy driver?
I have been seriusly considering getting a nice new 2002. My only concern is, I hope the price does not go up much{if any}. All I want is the cheapest model with a 6spd. Hmm, it's going to have to make my I30 look bad in comparison for me to upgrade. Can't wait to see this new beast and drive it! What do you think, Augoust?

The 2002 Max 260hp-6 speeds. I believe it is going to be the fastest max so far, should have about the same weight and the new 3.5 liter V6, oh baby this engine will likely produce more low end torque, and with the help of a 6 speed tranny, we should see some nice figure on the 0-100 and 1/4 mile.
My personal expectation for the 2002, 6 speeds Max ( if they want me to trade my 2K1 for 2K2 ) 0-100KM in 6.5 sec or less and the 1/4 mile under 14sec (low 13's), the Z Car is suppose to do 0-100 under 6 sec, likely 5.5 previously done with the Z ancester.
I feel a bit betrayed by Nissan, not because of the 2002 Max, but imagine, anyone who will buy an Altima or SE-R will likely make fun of us and kick our butt on a daily base.
Cheers

Wow... so the predictions are for real.
Damn.
I wish I had that kind of money! Maybe I can sucker my dad in to buying one... give the 3.2TL to mom (since she drives it anyway), have dad buy a `02 Maxima SE 5-spd...
** goes back to looking for used `97 SE's... **

Wow. I hope it stays the same shape. I would give up my Xenon (real HIDS) to have the stock ones added. Here in Hawaii police will stop you for anything. I had to add "football-glare-tape" to my lenses so I would add extra light to on coming cars. Besides looking a bit out of place, I still light up the road at least 2x the distance.
I love being able to see at night. Btw, if I remove the tape, I can light up every sign infront of me.

Things get really bright! I usually just drive with my headlights on and fogs off.
Re: Check, PLEASE!
Hmmmmm! Nice! I think I will wait on the new body style due to come out in '04. That's if don't get my damn Bimmer that James and his friends stole from me. That's right Aznwontonboy is a car thief and he had the audacity to post pics of my car with his name on the side! How low can you get? You'll get yours when I ca ll the police buddy

Confirmed...
Talked to my uncle yesterday, who works for a Nissan dealership back East.
He described the '02 Maxima exactly as the beginning of this post, and said that beyond '02, the Maxima will likely become larger, on the Altima platform, and could end up being a V8, rear-wheel drive.
Sounds similar to other things I've heard here.
More rumors for the mill...
