Same auto tranny? How about a 5 speed auto? The Max needs a 5 speed auto.

Are they one unhappy driver?

I have been seriusly considering getting a nice new 2002. My only concern is, I hope the price does not go up much{if any}. All I want is the cheapest model with a 6spd. Hmm, it's going to have to make my I30 look bad in comparison for me to upgrade. Can't wait to see this new beast and drive it! What do you think, Augoust?

Do all the 2k and 2k1 maxes come with the Limited Slip diffential? Is they do, why wouldn't Nissan put it on the 2k2?

Hey punkdork, it make sense to me too.

The 2002 Max 260hp-6 speeds. I believe it is going to be the fastest max so far, should have about the same weight and the new 3.5 liter V6, oh baby this engine will likely produce more low end torque, and with the help of a 6 speed tranny, we should see some nice figure on the 0-100 and 1/4 mile.

My personal expectation for the 2002, 6 speeds Max ( if they want me to trade my 2K1 for 2K2 ) 0-100KM in 6.5 sec or less and the 1/4 mile under 14sec (low 13's), the Z Car is suppose to do 0-100 under 6 sec, likely 5.5 previously done with the Z ancester.

I feel a bit betrayed by Nissan, not because of the 2002 Max, but imagine, anyone who will buy an Altima or SE-R will likely make fun of us and kick our butt on a daily base.

Cheers

most new cars get there butt kicked by new more powerful cars. just look at the altima.. they can kick the 1st 2nd and maybe third gens butt stock to stock.. just as time goes by, new cars have to compete at higher levels, kickin the oldies booties.

Wow... so the predictions are for real.

Damn.

I wish I had that kind of money! Maybe I can sucker my dad in to buying one... give the 3.2TL to mom (since she drives it anyway), have dad buy a `02 Maxima SE 5-spd...

** goes back to looking for used `97 SE's... **

Wow. I hope it stays the same shape. I would give up my Xenon (real HIDS) to have the stock ones added. Here in Hawaii police will stop you for anything. I had to add "football-glare-tape" to my lenses so I would add extra light to on coming cars. Besides looking a bit out of place, I still light up the road at least 2x the distance. I love being able to see at night. Btw, if I remove the tape, I can light up every sign infront of me.

Confirmed...

Talked to my uncle yesterday, who works for a Nissan dealership back East.

He described the '02 Maxima exactly as the beginning of this post, and said that beyond '02, the Maxima will likely become larger, on the Altima platform, and could end up being a V8, rear-wheel drive.

Sounds similar to other things I've heard here.

More rumors for the mill...
