Connecting laptop to OBDII plug

Has anyone successfully used laptop to monitor their car, 2000-2001 in specific, with some kind of software? There is bunch of posts about this, but mostly for 4th Gen cars. If you do, which one are you using?

Thanks..

i use the harrison software from obdscan.net. easy to see and setup. even runs great on my old laptop from college which only has a 266 mhz processor and 96mb of memory. they shipped quickly and i would recommend it.

Do you need that protocol converter module, or is it straight connection from computer to car?

go to www.obdscan.net to see all the applications and monitoring parameters. you can also order the harrison from that site. i find it great for monitoring and logging information as well checking people's cel lights.
