Help with anti-theft bolts

Well... I've gone and painted myself into a corner

Two years ago when I bought my Max and read up on all of the HID theft, I bought the HID theft prevention kit from Courtesy Nissan (Nissan parts) and installed it. The kit included four bolts that replaced the original bolts for the HID housings - they are "break off" bolts that you screw in and break the heads off of.

Now I am looking to install a set of angel eyes, and wouldn't you know it... I need to get the housings out. Does anyone here have any idea or experience on how to remove these bolts? If so, no need to post if you are worried about security - PM or email me.

Thank you

Usually they are called shear bolts. The head breaks off very easy. You will need to dril the head off then use a set of vise grips to remov the remaining part of the screw. Not all that hard. Use a center punch to prevent the drill bit from walking.

I've had very good luck using spiral socket style nut extractors on shear nuts. Depends if there's enough to grip onto. Craftsman or Visegrip make decent spiral nut extractors, and their easy to find at Sears or Home Depot.

take a dremel and cut a slot into the top of the bolt, remove with a flathead screwdriver.

this wont work if you put threadlicker on them.
