Speedometer adjustment with bigger wheels?

Thinking of replacing my 16 wheels (2k GLE stock) with the 17 stock that comes with the 2k1s and certain SEs. I'm assuming this is a plausible upgrade with no issues.

I realise this increases my actual speed vs the speedometer reading by a bit (saw the calculator as well). Would a Nissan dealership be able to adjust my speedometer to reflect the change, or should I avoid for that reason? Also, is balancing and alignment necessary when getting new wheels mounted? Thanks

im sure others will respond diferently to what i say here, but i have never bothered with a speedo calibration when changing wheels, especially going from 16 to 17. the larger wheel combined with the lower profile tire, if you pick the right size, would come very close in overall diameter. for example, my aftermarket 19s and OEM 17s are less than 1/4" apart, as far as i can tell. i hasnt seem that my speedo has been effected that much, if at all. the same with my previous car, going from 16-18, and before that, 16-17. yes, the Nissan dealer can do this for you, but may charge you entirely too much, so im sure a local STS or Midas or whatever equivalent you have in Canada can take care of it for you, if you really feel you need it.

no it wont affect it at all if you upgrade to just one size bigger but like kcmc582 said if you do go bigger be sure to adjust with a lower profile tire to keep the same diameter

and KCMC582 sorry to be totally off subject but isnt that first quote in your sig from immortal technique?? that one song about the chick with aids right??

Hey man, don't sweat it. I went from stock 16" to 18" and my speedometer reads about 2 mph faster than the stock. Go with what you want and what looks best for the car and don't worry about it.

^ Rice.

As others have stated, rim size has nothing to do with speedometer accuracy, its the overall diameter including tire sidewall that you are concerned about. As you move up in rim size, go with a lower profile tire to keep overall diameter roughly equal.
