I <3 my ground kit...

Ever since I've had it installed I love how it makes the car idle quieter. I love how even on a dying battery (Analysis = 300/690), the car would just POP and start up -- it would turn over a lot less. And I especially love how precise the 1-2 shift became. Take the car up aggressively to ~4K area and you'll feel the shift shock - it just drops right into place. It's noticeable, but definitely not annoying; unlike the stage-2 VB mod where the car feels like it crashed into something.

Now with a new DieHard Gold in there the car doesn't even turn over - just pop and fires up. I encourage more and more people to do this. It's a very cheap and quite effective mod. =)

Did you weigh this against the "Big Three" when considering this upgrade?

What kind of ground kit do you have? Or is it a custom one?

Weigh what against the big three? :\

Polak: Just standard 8-gauge wires with gold plates.

The big three is quite similar to a grounding kit in that it supplies the electrical system at full demand under all conditions, similar to how a grounding kit would work. The big three get's it juice by adding a wire in between the following junctions:

(1) Battery Negative to Chassis
(2) Battery Positive to Alternator
(3) Alternator to Engine Block

It's kind like the same thing, but a bit more expensive and geared more towards audio system, but works equally as well in providing the elec system with a constant electron supply.

...but...if you're happy with the grounding kit, more power to ya! Was this a DIY kit or prefabbed? If DIY, what brand wire did you use?

Ohh. I did ground the alt, tranny, engine block, chassis, headlights and TB. But I didn't go from terminal > alt > engine block; they're all connected individually. It was a prefabbed kit I ordered from eBay.

Your car is soo hot . I hear that a grounding kit will improve an older's car grounding, but in newer cars that start up fine anyways it doesn't do much?

Dunno. It definitely added a kick to my car that was missing before, especially with the tranny.

There is a kit made by one of the org members especially for the Maxima, not a generic one from eBay. I think his user name is Jeff92SE.

no. they just charge you for a finished product, and labor some1 put into making it. the wiring and ring terminals will run you about $20-40 bux. so you will spen some bux anyway.

Wire is wire, as long as its stranded, its still adding more groundpath than your car already has.

maybe on an 89 crx...but on our cars i really doubt it does anything. i may have to eat my words later since i haven't even bothered with it yet, but i know someone locally with the exact same car as you with the big three and he said it slightly helped his voltage but that's it. i guess i'll have to do it myself and find out. i know weak econo honduhs benefit from new grounds
