6-speed clutch options?

Ok, I've went through all 17 pages in the fith gen forums and havn't seen ****.

What replacement clutches are available and what have you used?

Any reccomendations other than stock?

I can get stock for about 270.00 but want to know what else is out there before I buy. Thanks

I know SPEC makes one... but don't know anyone who has gone aftermarket with their clutch on a 6-speed yet....

tilton clutch/flywheel set (one of the nicest). i believe sr20den also stated that the aftermarket stuff for the 350z might work also.

like puppet said, spec is a nice one also, had that in my legend coupe and loved it.

IIRC the stock clutch is capable of over 300 HP so just go OEM

350 z clutch and flywheels will work, but you will have to have the pins moved on the flywheel. Someone on here posted about it a long time ago. He also installed a factory hlsd.

take my advice and leave the flywheel stock.

Having the starter replaced is no fun. I refuse to believe all these parts are the same, that's speculation (and lies by manafacturers).

The 15 lb flywheel does make a difference, but not an astonishing one. Going back to stock wasn't a night and day difference for me, especially since the car wouldnt lose revs as fast as expected by some sort of software intervention...

The tilton setup is hardly streetable. It's also costing an arm and a leg.

As far as clutches, the jim wolf clutch seems to be OK (besides their stupid flywheel problem it actually worked out for me OK... ) Clutch master has some products now... That's the last i've really heard from this.

The earlier batch of 6 speeds didn't have HLSD as an option. I had an OEM HLSD added to my car at a later time.

I have a Fidanza flywheel with a Clutchmasters stage 3 clutch and I am loving it so far. The only downside is there is some chatter getting out of first gear. I would definitely recommend get a stage 1 or 2.

Oh and the clutch I have is for a 350z and the only difference is that the throwout bearing is nothing like the one for the max so I had to go with and oem maxima bearing and send the other one back to Clutchmasters.

I'm about to put in the exact same setup. Hou long have you had it in? I've heard the chatter goes away once it's fully broken in.

I have the clutch already and am just waiting on the flywheel. With any luck I'll be putting it in next Tuesday.

Did you install it yourself? Were there any issues other than the throwout bearing? How does the pedal feel?

There have been many threads on this... basically, look at the transaxle code that is in your engine bay (back right, aluminium plate on the firewall). It is a code that begins with R and ends with "H" for HLSD or "A" for open diff.

there's a group deal for clutches right now. Well, not really a group deal, but a sale for Orgers.

Clutch/Flywheel Sale: ACT, Centerforce, Clutch Maters, Exedy, Fidanza, RPS, SPEC

I have had the clutch in for about 1000 miles and I do not think that the chatter is going to go away. The shifting feels totally different now especially with the flywheel and like I said I love it. The issues I had was with the throwout bearing and I had to adjust the clutch pedal so it did not engage when the pedal was was touching the floor. The flywheel also makes this weird grinding noice on start up but from what I have been told that is normal. I was going to do it myself but I had a nissan tech that I know put it in for me.

Oh and I got mine from one of the groupdeals with UltraRev. I would highly recommend dealing with Ray at UltraRev.

Here is the thread:

From what you heard?

i don't wanna be the bearer of bad news, but you done heard wrong, read my posts about how my starter had to be replaced. You might disagree with me, i disagreed when i heard as well, but that weird grinding noise is by no means normal. It took about 8000 miles for my starter to be ruined. I also had metallic dust on my crank sensor, made my car choke now and then.

I have seen your post about the starter problem and that you repositioned it and replaced it....but I am not worring about it right now. I am going to take that starter out soon and just check it too see what damage is done in the next few months.

Thanks mjg I will def post if there are any problems. Just wondering but how did you reposition the starter? Did you just change the angle on how it sits????

drilled holes on it, i didn't actually do it, it seemed to alleviate some of the banging, but not the grinding... it slowed down the grindiing, there was still alot of slop in the gear mesh, yet the powder wasnt clogging up my sensor anymore...

It took a really long time i guess for the starter to totally wear down.
