Cruise Control
Cruise Control
I was traveling down the interstate where I use the cruise control quite a bit and as I went thru the motions, I discovered my "Cruise" light comes on but not the "Set" light... It has stopped working. How would I get the cruise control to work again? Is it a wiring/fuse or some electrical issue or what does anyone think the solution could be...?
How fast were you going? If you were going over 90MPH cruise control will not engane. I think the actual MPH is 92 or 93...but if you were going over that the car won't let you use it.
I still can't get my cruise control to set either, probably shouldn't matter to me anyway since I probably have one of the more 'leaded' feet on the forum.
I forgot, I remember reading somewhere that on some cars (big help right
) that the cruise won't engage if the overdrive is on due to the fact that the computer isn't programmed to operate the cruise at those constantly higher rpms.

check down by your clutch pedal if you're a standard and there is a button that senses if the clutch pedal is depressed or not thereby cancelling the cruise if it ever is depressed...either your clutch travel is adjusted to the wrong point, or this button is broken...or if you are an auto, there is a button behind the brake pedal rather than the clutch pedal (since you dont have one, of course)

ok so randomly, i have tried using cruise control every time i have turned the car off/on and it has worked every time... i am hoping it was some kind of temporary issue that has since been worked out. thanks for the replies
which would be 89 mph...
darrick, the next time it doesnt work, make sure your foot is completely off the clutch/brake pedal, and if it still doesnt work, put your foot behind the pedal and lift the pedal lightly and try again.

I have the exact same problem. It is extremely intermitten, but every couple weeks I won't be able to set the cruise. The cruise light stays on and the set light flashes with me. I have tried several things, but the only cure seems to be stopping the car and turning it off for a few seconds and restarting it.
Yeah same here and doing all that can get extremely inconvenient especially when you are in heavy traffic flow.. You don't want to have to pull over, turn the car off, wait a few seconds, then start it back up!!! If more than just two or three people have had or are having this problem then obviously there is a glitch in the system... Wished I knew how to permanently fix it though
cruise control hasn't been working the last few times i have tried to engage it, and i tried the whole lifting from behind the brake petal slighlty and it didn't help... what else is next w/out consulting a dealership

this is true...
i was looking through the svc manual for a self-test procedure but couldnt find one.
that reminds me of something, though...
how many times does the set light blink, guys?

dunno... i was hoping that it might blink out a code... then i can go for a drive, and apply brake pedal or clutch switch while engaging the cruise and see if they blink different for different 'faults'
hmm.
hmm.
so the question remains... what do the ones who are experiencing this issue do? consulting a dealer being the last option, what are the other choices we have? i just want mine to work because i travel long distances on the highway and i need to keep my lead foot off the pedal... anyone who has any links, advice, knowledge about this subject please let us know
