Smart Entry Control Unit headache help
So my new (well new to me) 01' ae se SC max is freakin awesome except for one thing. I cant do my "look at me im a pimp" window rolldown when im walking to my car anymore because i don't have a keyless remote. Well i got one off ebay but the car wont let it program. The hazards flash so its entering programming mode but it wont recognize the remote. Im sure its the right remote and im sure it work. I had it tested at the dealer. A new Smart Entry Control Unit is like 350 bucks. Yeah right, i just bought a new car.. do you think i have that kind of cash. NOPE. Any ideas? Thanks, Sam

and there is a way to program the remote but i cant seem to find it and i dont feel like searching right now. someone will post it
ok well i changed my mind. here you go - http://www.courtesyparts.com/instruct/remote.html
Im SURE the 01 max does the "roll down." My 97 Max did it and every 4th gen and 5th gen does. I already have the programing instructions. I have tried a million times to program it as did the nissan tech at the dealer. Something is screwed up with the control module for the system. The hazards flash as they are supposed to but then it wont recognize when i hit the button from the remote. Thanks for idea though. Keep em comin'.

Dude that totally blows.... well, i stand corrected. But, i still would like to unlock my doors without my key. Gosh, what a crappy idea to get rid of one of the coolest features of the max. p.s. im still a little bitter about the last time we (mizzou) played OU in football... sorry for the attitude.

to bad you arent playing us this year...im worried about baylor
Yeah, I'm almost embarrased to post this, because it makes me look like a complete idiot, which I like to think I'm not. But last year, when I replaced my battery, the thing wouldn't work. I tried for a few weeks to reprogram it and put another battery in, etc. and nothing worked. Then one day my friend says, "Are you sure you put the battery in right?" And I'm thinking, "Of course I did. Do you think I'm some kind of moron?"
Well guess what..apparently I am. Haha. As it turned out, I did have the battery in backwards.
Unfortunately, this also killed the brand new battery, so I had to replace it again, and put the new one in correctly this time. And, like magic, it worked again! I was so happy to have keyless back.
It's one of those things where you don't realize how much you enjoy it until it's gone.
Plus, opening the windows from a distance is really pimp.
Sorry, samsonite, I just couldn't restrain myself.
