Broken into ... again

It hasn't even been a year since the last time. This time it happened on my yuppy azz street. The damage is much worse this time. They bent the window frame, stole my AVIC-N1 and got away with some other goodies. F'uckers even got away with my LSAT review materials. Why would they take that ****!? To make matters worse, I broke my finger on Saturday, am currently unemployed and am taking the LSAT in less than a week!

Sorry about all that... You have any idea who might be doing this? Did anyone witness or hear anything, if it were on your street i'd assume someone heard or saw something.

Thanks, no word from anyone. I doubt anyone else got hit in the neigborhood, but who knows. I talked to a neighbor who lives directly across the street who said she has motion sensing lights in her driveway that are affected by things in the road and she figured they worked quickly. They definitely knew what they were doing. I was wondering, maybe they followed me (I came home late last night) and just waited for me to park and then they hit. That's just a thought but this sucks,

There are two reasons why I like living in the woods. I have a secluded neighborhood ,secondly if someone did find it they would be afraid to approach my car... I have many a gun.

If I pay the $1000 deductible they will fix it but they won't replace the HU. If the repair costs less than the deductible I'll just try to fix it myself and get a new window.

Haha! I wish. Actually, there wasn't even a reporting officer. They just did it over the phone.

they wont' replace your unit because it's aftermarket and it's not part of your policy, but what if you claimed it was your stock unit. ironically enough, that may cost more. you know how much stock pieces are. how much is a stock radio? they'll pay you for THAT, and you might as well claim some other stuff to compensate.

now, are you sure they won't cover you? usually they'll cover whatever was in the car except stuff that was NOT bolted down (eg. they'll cover a headunit but not an mp3 player that was just on the seat).

I already told the police and the insurance company what was stolen so if I go back and alter what I did it will appear suspicious and rightly so. The insurance agent asked if I had endorsed the HU and because I did not she said it won't be covered.

So I guess honesty would have been the SECOND best policy. Sad that insurance companies do that. BTW: $1,000 deductable? You don't have a loan on that car, do you.

Car is paid off. Insurance coverage is high sacrificing a high deductible. I've never been in an accident (knock on wood), so I figured I'd rarely be paying it.

Does anyone know the best way to wrap up my window? The last time, I bought some plastic sheet from Home Depot and taped it with duct tape. It finally stayed on when I used an excessive amount of duct tape. The tape left adhesive that was a b!tch to get off. Any other ideas?

try using masking tape, bring it around to the inside (wrap around the door frame) and itll hold, dont open the door, i guess.

I feel your pain, My old car got broken into 3 times in a year cuz they found some good stuff the first time around.. almost caught em once.. with golf club in hand.

They need to be castrated and tortured by pedophiles..

And that's what all pedophiles should be used for!

Update:

I took it to the shop to get it appraised and it's going to be less than my deductible so I'm going to pay straight out of pocket. I'm going to get it done at the shop where I had it appraised. They need to replace the window channel, clean the window/door and replace the glass. They are also going to run it over to a local trusted audio shop to hopefully have the stock HU (provided by me) installed if the everything is intact. Total cost for the repair is $460 and some change. All things considered I guess it's alright. I'm down one AVIC-N1, however. I know now to have something like this covered under my insurance and probably an alarm installed.
