ABS on/off switch

In most cases ABS is very helpful, but sometimes you just don’t want it to kick in… so basically I am thinking of making an on/off switch.

The design I was thinking of is just to put the most basic decent looking Radio Shack switch on the wire which goes to the fuse box and secure the switch somewhere on the dashboard. To make sure that I’m not ganna break anything I have a couple of question to the electrical system experts:

1) Is there a possibility of damaging something by switching ABS while the engine is running?

2) Say, I am starting to brake and ABS kicks in, and while ABS is being activated I am pulling the switch. – will this damage anything?

BTW: Those who have done it before – please share your experience!

I think the ABS works with the computer.
I think somewhere down the line you might run into a problem, but im not 100% sure. Good luck with your project.

The ABS works with the ECM, potential for screwing something up = high...

The switch will work just like the fuse. You pull it and it stops working. I am sure that doing it with the ignition off will not do any damage.

If you can figure out a way to bypass the ECU maybe. But its still going to give you a CEL.

locate the wire from the brake switch to the ABS CU, install switch inline.

use proper connections and a good switch. you should be able to deactivate it mid-stop without any problems. i havent researched it tooo much, but the ABS only can activate with the brakes applied. ill ck the wiring diagram and make sure you dont tap in where you wont have brake lights.
