Someone Trashed my Car
Someone Trashed my Car
hey guys, been waiting forever so i can post this. (forever meaning the last hour) So yeah i just got a 02 White Maxima about less then a month ago. I left it at home, i go to college in another city, because i couldn't afford full coverage since i'm financing it. Took my dad's maxima for the time being. I was suppose to go and pay off the car this weekend and put it on liability under my name until this happened. This morning at around 6:35 I got a call from my bro he's like dude your car is totalled i'm like how the heck did it get totalled?? and he's like dude someone smashed all your windows and everything. So i rushed myself out of NIU back to chicago right then and there. When i got home i found this.

yup look at that ****. Some dirtbag just destroyed my car. Call up progressive and they're on the way up here now. But he's kinda late though. So i'm gonna end up getting a 2 way alarm and wired that to my stock horn too. Hopefully i can get it fixed and everything this weekend and take my car back.

that's at my house back in chicago, yeah i haven't been here like for the last 4 weeks so i don't know who i would have pissed off. I got one person in mind though, this one guy thinks we broke his car glass and this might be an act of revenge. (even though i didn't do it)
I'd be getting Chicago's finest CSI people up on that cheese burger! That really sucks man! Something similar happened to me after a recent move. I hadn't been in my new apartment for like 2 days. My Max was mistaken for another maxima that was in the neighborhood...needless to say It got keyed ALL THE WAY around the car and then some...yeah, a very expensive reapainting of the car soon followed
so progressive guy came and gave me a check for 2234.77 that's minus the 500 deductible. From the time i called in till they gave me the check and everything 4 hours so that's pretty good. finally i can get the car fixed.

man, how did those windows break? loox like you have tint on them. when someone broke into my camry last year the whole window was shattered but stuck completely to the tint. it's almost like safety glass, like the windshield...
dang, sorry to hear....maybe you should ask around your neighborhood, someone must have heard that glass breaking. oh yeah my cousin went to NIU, and she would always take my cousin, and i to those family member days. so cool, and the girls are so hot there
who's wheaties did you **** in?
Look at the bright side: any chips in the windshield will now be fixed. Not to mention the side windows, the rearview mirror, hood....
You should be able to get a pretty good deal on the glass. Probably around a grand for all of them (the back window will be the most expensive since it's got the defroster and antenna). You can replace the side mirror yourself from a junkyard (I'd buy the rear glass there too and have it installed by the guy doing the rest. have a little side cash handy). The hood looks bad, but shouldn't be too much to have fixed (maybe 500). Looks like at most you'll pay about 2k if you play your cards well. The other $234 can buy three kegs (since you're in college: I judged money by how much beer it would buy back then myself)

Damn dude.. that sucks *****..
first step.. call insurance and police.
step #2. get $ from insurance to fix car.
step #3. www.car-part.com
looks like you need a bunch of glass and a pass side mirror. hit the ding on the hood with some touchup paint to make sure it won't rust and call it a day.
door glass, $50 each (x2)
windshield, $100
rear window, $100
pass mirror, black, electric, non-heated.. $60-75
pay a glass shop $100 to install the front and rear windows for you, $100. do the side glass yourself. takes about 30-60 min per window.
total repair cost, about $450-500. fixed in less than 1 day.

so i went to the local shop that my dad knows they want to replace the glasses for 800 so i'm doing that and then go to another shop i know for the paint job i want to get some part of my car painted too. All and all i should get everything fixed and better than before. Also should have money to get a 2 way alarm and have some money left over. Maybe it will turn out to be a good thing afterall. and no i didn't deserve this.
yeah so i got tints so like all the glass stuck together. so they like used the bats to make holes. also first thing i'm doing is getting a huge *** alarm and then come the mods. I got 2 headrest LCD's and it was still there so their intentions were to destroy my car not steal anything.

Your insurance works completely differently from in British Columbia. Here the insurance adjuster gives an estimate, you take the estimate to the shop, if the shop doesn't like the estimate they bicker with the insurance company, then the shop fixes the car (including subbing out any work they can't do), then you go in and pay the deductible only and you're done.
The only time you get the cash is when the car is totalled.
they gave me 2 choices:
1) go to their shop pay the deductible and everything is guarantee as long as i have the car.
2) they write me a check for the estimated cost to repair the car minus the deductible.
i chose the 2nd route because my dad knows some ppl and they'll give him a break on stuff so in the end we didn't have to pay the deductible becuase the amount they pay us is more then sufficient to pay for the repairs. So money in our pockets and car all fixed. Also if the check wasn't enough to cover the repairs, the shop just have to call them up and they'll send the money to the shop to fix it. I like progressive they're a nice company planning on staying with them for a long time. Everything is just so fast with them.

chicago cops are lazy...they didn't even come to take the report even though the station is literary 2 blocks from my house. i don't even think they would go all out with getting fingerprints and stuff. Probably just gonna say we'll look for them, but probably won't ever find them. That's wat they say about everything you report to them. I gotta give credit to Progressive though....really really amazing insurance company.
That is sickening. Sure would be nice if the cops could check for DNA on that burger. I'm sure the scumbag has a record...or soon will. Good to see insurance was quick to resolve things though.

...but im sure i would be pissed as hell to see yet another maxima abused my some stupid hooligans.
