Do some research before you buy, alot of people have bashed the budget I was thinking about getting it also. Apparently it's not stainless and it rusts quickly. Something to that effect. I've heard great things about the cattman for 5th gens and that is what I plan on buying when I have the money. Most of the time you get what you pay for in the auto-world

There is no rust issue with the stainless steel Budget y-pipe.
Go Budget and save the difference on the over-priced Cattman product.

Don't get a y-pipe. I suggest you save you're money and get the new Cattman headers that just came out not to long ago. If I knew Cattman was going to re-release their headers a while back I wouldn't have gotten the Cattman y-pipe I have now, but that's my opinion. Anyway, I can't say enough about the company (Cattman) and quality of their products. Quality piping and welds. Good luck!

Budget y-pipe = budget fitament + budget quality + budget materials. Spend a little more for the cattman or warpspeed, especially since you're in the Northeast, wehere you want it stainless. Ask SOONR1 about budget quality/fit/service....

01 fed spec has 1 precat in one of the exhaust manifolds
01 CA spec has 1 precat in each of the exhaust manifolds
All 02+ have a precat in each of the exhaust manifolds
The difference betwen headers and a y-pipe on a 95-00 fed spec is a couple of ponies on a good day. On a 01 Fed, it's 7-10whp. On 02+ the difference is 15-20whp. On a 01 CA spec and a 02+, a y pipe makes a couple of horsepower on a good day.
If you want to save some money, have an 01, and don't want to blow $800 on headers, put on a 95-00 exhaust manifold and get a y-pipe.

if you put a ypipe on a 00 fed spec, you eliminate the REAR precat, but the front precat will remain there. To get rid of the front precat, you would have to replace the manifold as well...
ypipe on a 00 cali spec eliminates BOTH precats.
ypipe on an 02-03 doesn't eliminate ANY precats, as they are in the manifold.

Are you guys saying there is another pre cat on 00 Fed spec? Where is it located? Here is a set up photo:
All I see on the front is exhaust manifold that connects directly to the Y...

Hello, I am retarded. got my cali and fed mixed up (jet lag...just got back from LA).
Fed spec aftermarket ypipe does indeed remove both precats, while the cali spec aftermarket pipe only removes the rear precat
sorry....must be that california smog getting to my head
