replacing 2k2 hid headlight with 20th aniversary headlights

I have a 2k2 max and last nite my right headlight was stolen. I dont want to put the same one back on casue they will come back!

I want to put a 20th aniversary black housing headlight in there instead. I read that there might be a gap bewtten the bumper and the headlamp? is that true.

Then i was looking on ebay and saw jdm blacked out housing aftermarket ones and wondering if anyone had known how those are if they fit right or if not to buy them at all? heres the link to ebay

Sorry to hear about your luck. Did you have the Data Dots recall done on your car? Just curious. And yes, there will be a gap there if you put in the AE lights, but it's better than getting them stolen again. I had my driver side light stolen about two years ago so I feel your pain bro.

Data Dots was a recall done by Nissan to try and reduce the amount of HID theft in the Northeast. It involved metal brackets attached to the frame of the car to make the lights harder to pry out plus putting identification numbers on the housings to make it easier to prosecute someone if they were caught with stolen lights. I think it helped reduce theft for awhile, but now I am seeing more and more threads of stolen lights again. That is discouraging to here they still stole your light with the recall done. Was there a lot of damage to the hood/fenders?

I think that the easiest one to take off. When I added the HID's to my car, I had to push the passenger side really hard so it will get in.. the drivers side went in really easy....

I think the reason for my case was that the driver's side was facing the street so someone could drive up next to it, jack the light and drive off without getting out of the car.

i think dr. roy or someone else said that the bracket under the headlight that is attach to the bumper support is different in the 2k/2k1 vs the 2k2/2k3. Its a white or creme colored plastic. I think this was used to correct the gap issue. I might be wrong though.

Well i test fiteed a used 01 headlight on the 2k2 and the gap is about 2-3 inches.. its gross! and if you try to pull the headlight further out then theres and 2 inch gap on the fender. so that wont work.

And they dindt take my driver side they took the passenger side., WITH NO Damage to the body whats so ever just the hood looks like the tried lifting it up a bit.

I also noticed that they cut the wires to the horn so the alarm wont go off.

SUCKS
I want to put some kind of alarm on the headlights so if on gets pulled off or touched that the viper alarm will page me. anyone knows how to do that?

i think that the main reason for the gap is because the bumper is different.

sorry to hear the lost. winter is coming soon and that's prolly going to make us more nervous considering it's harder to see when snowing so thieves can get away easier...

The clips under the head lights are different for the 00-01 & 02-03. The 02-03 clips sit futher back than the 00-01 clips. The clips are like $6 bucks from the dealer. I have a set of 00 head lights, if anyone wants them pm me. They need to be baked and blacked out though.

But the 3G Altis and 6G Maximas have HIDs as options (read: non-standard) so thieves dont have that 'guarantee' of getting HID pay-dirt on those.

I have Datadots on my 02 but I have no delusions of HID-safety. It just means that I can expect to have my ride tore up if they do try.....and they will try if given the chance (Data dots or not).

As for the 1-HID ******, I know HIDs are becoming big with bikers so that might explain why seeing one snatched here and there may become more prevalent.

Interesting theory, but not sound. HID kits for bikes are relatively cheap, how do I know, because I have one. A plug-&-play system runs about $220, and u can find them for cheaper. It makes more sense to grab one head light here, another there. It's faster, safer, and allows the thieves to play shadow games with the cops. almost ensuring thier escape from capture.

how about if we were to make like a fiberglass cover that goes all the way to the back under the headlight and bolts on over the light so that theres no way for them to take it off. there will only be holes where the light comes through? Shi**t ill even but to strips of metal and run them back to hold my light in i dont care how ugly that will look. just long enouhg to move out of the bronx...

do you know if this would have any affect on the positioning of a 2k headlight in a 2k2?

i dont think its just the clips becasue i had the headlight from a 00 on the 2kl2 and it looke horrible,,.. i fit aroun d the fender fine but the gap on the bumper was over 2 inchs, then i moved it foward and the tabs didnt reach the rad support and there was a gap on the fendet about an inch, so i dont see no way around that. i think the headlight is just smaller...

How about if we were to change fronts to an infiiniti i35 front, that would be possible right?

I know it made a difference in fit for the 03 headlights on my 00 Max. Not sure about the other way around. But the clips are really cheap, so it couldn't hurt to try. Like I said before, I have a set of 00 head lights, if anyone wants them pm me and cover shipping.

I don't think so. They are probably spec though. I don't know if inspection will give u a problem because there are no reflectors in the singal area.

Not too long ago my hid's were stolen like many of you guys, so what I did is i got the shop to customise the hood, extended it the front, over the headlight (alot like the boser hood) but after i spent the $ on the hood i didnt have enough leftover to put the hid headlight back in, so i put non hid aftermarket and yes it does leave a gap. But, if you use weather trimming aropund the headlight, does not look that bad. The only problem i got is the shop screwed up my whole wiring. does any one know where i can find a diagram of a 2k-2k1 of the headlight wiring?
