Stillen Headers

Hi guys, I'm completely new to 5th gens so please take it easy on me.
I bought a set of Stillen headers with a race pipe (Y-pipe) today. I never did a research on it before, but I figured that Stillen usually makes one of the best products out there.
So how are they from your experience?
What do I need to install them, the guy said that I could use everything from stock parts but I doubt it. All I have is piping, no bolts or gaskets.
Also, aproximately how much is to install them at the shop?

It goes on my car, with everything stock so I don't want to pull any codes and don't want it to be loud.
By the way, my Maxima is 03 GLE if it make a difference.
Please give me as much info as possible.

Stillen doesn't make very good products at all for us. You should've went for Cattman headers. Cancel your order if you still can and get Cattman.

Well then, return it.

Because you won't gain anything with their headers. There were 6 dynos posted that showed a LOSS of power.

I'm not sure if its worth installing those things. As for not doing your research, you're definitely right; ya missed one hell of a thread (I posted it above) on Stillen headers in the FAQs.

If I were in your situation, I'm not sure what I'd do either. Maybe try to have Stillen take em back? Or throw em on eBay, take a loss, and get some Hotshots or Cattmans?

If you're gonna get em installed, which for the gains is not worth it, it shouldn't be more than 3-5 hours of work. To not get a CEL, you're gonna need the installer to either extend your downstream O2 sensors to behind the main cat and weld into your b-pipe. OR you can just get O2 sims from www.O2sim.com, wire em in and leave those sensors hanging somewhere.

There are a couple write-ups out there... see if you can find those... the 2 I can think of are by BlackbirdVQ and luxbond.

hotshot in blue, stillin in red. The cattman headers make a few more ponies than the hotshots.

If you haven't installed them yet, look into whether you could return it or not.

I bought them on ebay, they were used

Damn, I hate modding. No matter what I buy, there is always something wrong. The same thing was with 4th gen, but at least that car I knew very well.

I don't think I'll ever get for them as much as I've spent. I thought I was extremely lucky to buy them for $500+shipping.

Its better gettting some money back for em than spending the extra time and money installing them on your car for almost the same gains as an intake.

Btw, you can get a set of Hotshots with proven 20 whp gains for $550 from SCO.

You'd be better off taking a $100 hit and getting HS/Cattman than putting on the $tealin's and not getting any power.

BTW, the was some $tealin headers that closed on ebay today for $500 + $50 shipping.

I find it odd that you spent that much money on them without researching prior

Well thats exactly what I bought and I swer that I didn't research. Figured that Stillen was a good manufacturer. I hate being ****ed like this.
What pisses me off the most is the fact that all money is hard earned and its not like I was selling crack or something

crack is more useful than the stillin headers-you could get high with it or sell it for a decent price. Stillin used to be a trusted brand, but after their y-pipes started rusting and these worthless headers came out, they basically lost all the trust of the peeps on the org.

The new 2nd gen cattman headers do not have any fittment issues. You may need to put larger washers over the crossmember bolts to prevent the downpipe from banging against it though.

I have one more question, does it say anywhere on the headers that its made by Stillen?
Because on mine it doesn't say anything, but on Y pipe it says racing legal or something like that.

I might have missed something...but doesn't the red line indicate a gain over stock? I know vq35s do about 200-210whp

There are very few people that have them on here ... so you would have to ask those who have them

My 'cattmans' do not say absoltely anything on them.... Stillens y-pipes have the 'off road use only' deal, so i would imagine so do the headers.

cattman's products dont say their name on them so stillen might be the same. frankencar labels its parts though. hopefully you didnt get ripped even more and buy the cheap *** $250 ebay headers mislabeled as stillen....

Hotshots and Cattman come with different y-pipes; they do not look like the standard aftermarket y-pipes that you see and are not interchangeable.

Cattman headers:

Hotshot headers:
