anyone with working knowledge of the unified meter control unit? (gauge cluster)

Ok, here's the deal. All 4 gauges are not functioning; along with that my odometer, and trip meter, are both out. I've come to the conclusion from my own troubleshooting diagnosis that the unified meter control unit is dead.

I called nissan to ask for pricing, and along with the few hundred dollar price, they gave me their opinion. They think that it's either the unified meter control unit or that the gauges are bad themselves.

I still think it's the control unit, but I wanted to know if someone here could help me, before I drop 400 bucks on something I can't return.

Thanks.
